How to Transfer a Playlist with SongShift
Updated
SongShift moves playlists, songs, and albums from one streaming service to another in three steps: configure the Shift (pick the source music and destination service), review the matched songs and fix any mismatches, then let the transfer finish so the music appears in your destination library. You can also keep a playlist in sync so later additions carry over. SongShift lists support for Amazon Music, Apple Music, Audiomack, Deezer, Discogs, Hype Machine, LastFM, Pandora, Qobuz, SoundCloud, Spotify, TIDAL, and YouTube, and it says all features are unlocked with SongShift Pro starting at $6.99/month.
Before you start
- Accounts on both services. You need to be signed in to the service your music comes from and the one it's going to, since SongShift matches songs on the destination service.
- A source playlist, song, or album. Decide what you want to move before you open the app.
- A destination service that supports the content. Not every track exists everywhere, which is why the review step matters.
Step 1: Configure your Shift
Tell SongShift which playlists, songs, or albums you want transferred and which streaming service they should go to. This defines the Shift — the transfer job itself. If you're moving a whole playlist, select the playlist rather than individual tracks so the order and contents stay together.
Step 2: Review matches and fix mismatches
After SongShift has matched your songs on the destination service, it shows you the results and gives you the chance to fix any mismatches. This is the step to slow down on:
- Check songs that were matched to a different version (live, remix, or deluxe edition).
- Replace tracks that couldn't be found with the correct alternative, or remove them.
- Confirm the playlist order looks right before finishing.
Skipping this step is the most common reason a transferred playlist feels "off" — the transfer succeeds, but individual tracks point to the wrong recording.
Step 3: Finish the transfer
Once you confirm the matches, SongShift completes the transfer and the songs appear in your destination music library moments later. Open the destination app and check the playlist before deleting anything from the source.
Keep playlists in sync
SongShift can sync additions from your playlist to your destination service. If you keep adding songs to the original playlist, syncing means you don't have to re-run the whole transfer each time. Use this when the source playlist is one you actively maintain; for one-off moves, a single transfer is enough.
Common snags
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| A song shows as unmatched | Search for the track manually during review, or accept that it isn't available on the destination service |
| Wrong version matched | Fix it in the review step before finishing |
| Playlist looks incomplete after transfer | Re-check the review screen; removed or unmatched tracks won't appear |
| Later additions missing | Enable sync so new songs carry over |
