How to Turn a Photo into an AI Art Prompt (Free, No Login)
Updated
Upload your photo to Image to Prompt Generator at imagepromptguru.net, choose the AI model you plan to use, pick an output language and style, then click Generate Prompt. The tool returns a descriptive English prompt you can paste into Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, or Flux. No account is needed, and the site states the service is free with no watermarks or hidden costs. The main constraints: JPG, PNG, or WEBP files only, maximum 5MB, and you can also paste an image URL instead of uploading a file.
Before You Start
- File format: JPG, PNG, or WEBP.
- File size: 5MB or less. Larger photos need to be resized or compressed first.
- Source: either a local file or a direct image URL.
- Goal: know which model you'll paste the prompt into, since the optimizer option changes the phrasing.
Step-by-Step: Photo to Prompt
1. Open the Image to Prompt tab
The site has two modes: Image to Prompt (analyzes a picture) and Text to Prompt (rewrites your written description). For a photo, use Image to Prompt.
2. Add your image
Either click the upload area and select a file, or paste an image URL into the URL field. If the upload fails, check the format and size first — a 6MB PNG will be rejected even though the format is supported.
3. Choose the AI model
Under "Optimize for AI Model," select General, Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, or Flux. Match this to where the prompt will actually be used; a prompt tuned for one model may use syntax or emphasis the other doesn't read the same way.
4. Pick output language and style
- Output Language: 18 options including English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, and more. Note that the generated prompt itself comes out in English — the standard for AI art tools — while your input can be in your native language.
- Scene/Style: General, Photorealistic, Ghibli, Cyberpunk, Fantasy, Anime, Watercolor, Oil Painting, or Steampunk. Choose the look you want the final image to have, not necessarily the look of the source photo.
5. Generate and review
Click Generate Prompt. Before copying, check that the result covers four things:
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Subject | The main person, object, or scene is named correctly |
| Composition | Framing, angle, and layout are described |
| Lighting | Light direction, quality, and mood appear |
| Style | Your chosen style is reflected in the wording |
If the prompt drifts from the original — wrong subject, missing details — regenerate, switch the style to General, or try a clearer, higher-contrast source image.
6. Copy into your AI art tool
Paste the English prompt into Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, or Flux. Because the prompt is descriptive text rather than a fixed template, you can edit individual phrases (swap "golden hour" for "overcast," for example) to fine-tune the result.
Common Snags and Fixes
- Upload rejected: Confirm JPG/PNG/WEBP and under 5MB. Screenshots saved as other formats won't work.
- Prompt misses key details: Busy or low-contrast photos produce vaguer prompts. Crop to the main subject and retry.
- Style overrides the photo: If a Ghibli or Cyberpunk style pulls the prompt too far from your original, regenerate with General and add style words manually.
- URL doesn't load: The link must point directly to an image file, not a webpage containing the image.
Privacy and Usage Notes
The site states uploaded images are processed in real time and immediately discarded — not stored, shared, or used for training. Prompt history is kept locally in your browser. Generated prompts belong to you and can be used commercially, per the site's FAQ.
Image vs. Text Mode: Which to Use
Use Image to Prompt when you have a photo or sketch and want a description of what's actually there. Use Text to Prompt when you have an idea in words and want it rewritten with AI-art best practices — it also offers an Enhance Prompt option and the same style presets. If you're starting from a reference photo but want to change the scene, generate from the image first, then edit the resulting prompt by hand.
