How to Use RDR2 Map to Find and Track Collectibles

Updated

Open rdr2map.com and use the category filters to isolate the collectible type you need, then click markers to see locations and mark items as found with the progress tracker. This works for both story mode and Red Dead Online collectibles, and the map covers everything from Cigarette Cards and Dinosaur Bones to Madam Nazar's item sets.

Finding a Specific Collectible Type

The map groups everything into filterable categories. To narrow the map down to what you're missing:

  1. Open the map at rdr2map.com. All markers load by default, which is overwhelming.
  2. Use the Show All / Hide All controls to clear the map first.
  3. Toggle on only the category you need. For example, check Cigarette Card to see all 144 of them, or Dinosaur Bone for the 30 bone locations.
  4. Use the Search field if you want to jump to a specific item by name.

The category list is organized into groups, so you can find what you need quickly:

Group Examples Counts shown
Collectibles Cigarette Card, Dinosaur Bone, Dreamcatcher, Grave, Rock Carving, Treasure 144, 30, 20, 9, 10, 27
Pickups Item, Loot, Weapon, Wild Horse 108, 151, 32, 62
Online Campfire, Harrietum, Hideout, Legendary Animal, Treasure 30, 35, 27, 29, 117
Amenities Fast Travel, Fence Vendor, Gunsmith, Post Office, Trapper 23, 6, 5, 12, 5
Events Gang Hideout, Random Event, Stranger 13, 396, 44
Madam Nazar's Items Alcohol Bottle, American Flower, Arrowhead, Coin, Tarot sets 54, 324, 72, 90, 84 each

The number next to each category is the total count on the map, so you can compare it against your in-game progress to see how many you still need.

Reading Markers for Exact Locations

Each marker on the map represents one collectible. Click a marker to see its position relative to roads, landmarks, and terrain. Because the map is interactive, you can zoom in to street level to plan your route.

A few things that help when reading markers:

  • Interiors can be toggled on separately, which matters for collectibles found inside buildings.
  • Landmarks and Point of Interest markers give you orientation points so you can navigate without guessing.
  • The Distance Measurement Tool lets you measure how far apart two collectibles are, useful for planning an efficient run.

Tracking Progress

The map includes a progress tracker so you can mark items as found and hide them from view. The intended workflow is:

  1. Filter to your target category.
  2. Travel to a marker in-game and collect the item.
  3. Mark it as found on the map.
  4. The marker is removed or dimmed, so your remaining targets stand out.

This is the core loop the site is built around — the source description states you can "use the progress tracker to find everything you need." Working category by category (finish all Cigarette Cards, then all Dinosaur Bones, etc.) keeps the map readable.

Online vs Story Mode Collectibles

Red Dead Online has its own collectible layer, including Madam Nazar's rotating item sets. These are separated into the Online and Madam Nazar's Items groups. If you play Online, toggle those categories instead of the story-mode ones. The Online treasure maps (117) and Treasure Hunter (9) markers are distinct from the story-mode Treasure (27) category.

Common Snags

  • Too many markers at once. If the map feels cluttered, you skipped the Hide All step. Clear everything, then add one category.
  • Ad interruptions. The site notes that an ad blocker may be detected and offers a PRO upgrade to remove ads and unlock extra features. The upgrade is optional — the core map and tracker work without it.
  • Embedding the map. If you want the map on your own site, the Embed Map option generates a code block you copy into your HTML.

Quick Reference

  • Find one collectible type: Hide All → toggle that category → zoom to markers.
  • Plan a route: Use the Distance Measurement Tool between markers.
  • Track completion: Mark found items to clear them from the map.
  • Online players: Use the Online and Madam Nazar's Items groups, not the story-mode collectibles.
