How to Use Rubikverse's Cube Solver to Solve a Scrambled Cube

Updated

Open Rubikverse, pick the solver that matches your puzzle, use the Color Picker to copy your scrambled cube's colors onto the on-screen cube, then follow the solver's step-by-step rotations. The site lists solvers for standard cubes from 2×2 up to 15×15 as well as non-cube puzzles, so the same workflow applies whether you're holding a 3×3 or a Megaminx.

Step 1: Choose the right solver

Rubikverse groups its tools into two sections on the homepage:

  • Rubik's Cube Solver — standard cubes: 2×2×2, 3×3×3, 4×4×4, and on up through 15×15×15.
  • Cube Puzzles — non-cube and shape-mod puzzles, including Pyraminx, Kilominx, Megaminx, Gigaminx, Teraminx, Pyraminx Crystal, Skewb, Dino Cube, Square-0/1/2, Redi Cube, Fadi Cube, Mirror Cubes (2×2 to 5×5), Floppy Cube, Domino Cube, Tower Cube, 3×3×4 and 3×4×4 puzzle cubes, and the Dodecahedron 2×2×2.

Click Play Now next to your puzzle. If you pick the wrong size, the color grid won't match your cube's faces and the solution will be wrong — so confirm the size before entering colors.

Step 2: Enter your scramble with the Color Picker

The site's usage guide describes the Color Picker as the way to "select and adjust the colors of each cubelet to match your scrambled cube." In practice:

  1. Hold your scrambled cube in a fixed orientation and don't rotate it while entering colors.
  2. Work face by face, setting each sticker to the color you actually see.
  3. Double-check every face before running the solver — a single wrong sticker is the most common reason a solution fails.

Expected result: the on-screen cube now mirrors your physical cube exactly.

Step 3: Run the solver and follow the steps

Press the solver and it returns detailed steps — a sequence of notation moves. Apply them one at a time to your physical cube, keeping the same orientation you used during color entry.

Rubikverse publishes a notation reference so you can read the output:

Notation Meaning
U / U' Top face clockwise / counterclockwise
D / D' Bottom face clockwise / counterclockwise
R / R' Right face clockwise / counterclockwise
L / L' Left face clockwise / counterclockwise
F / F' Front face clockwise / counterclockwise

The prime (') symbol means counterclockwise. If your cube ends up scrambled differently than expected, the usual causes are a mis-entered color or turning a face the wrong direction — re-check the color entry first.

Step 4: Practice with Scramble and explore Patterns

Two extra features on the site support practice:

  • Scramble — generates random cube configurations so you can drill solving without hand-scrambling.
  • Patterns — lets you explore different patterns and learn unique solving techniques.

The site also offers Tutorials from Speedcuber if you want to move beyond solver-assisted solving toward solving on your own.

Quick checklist

  • Correct puzzle size selected
  • All stickers entered accurately via Color Picker
  • Cube held in one fixed orientation throughout
  • Moves applied one at a time, primes read as counterclockwise

Work through these in order and the solver's steps will take your scrambled cube back to solved.
