Is Opera Integra a Charity and How Does It Use Its Funds?

Updated

Yes. Opera Integra is a registered charity in the UK, with charity number 296206. It describes itself as welcoming donations and giving charity performances, for which it receives part of the income while the remainder goes to a local charity.

What Opera Integra Is

Opera Integra is a registered charity (no. 296206) that stages opera performances. According to its website, it "welcomes donations and gives charity performances." The site's heading confirms its status with the line "Charity No: 296206."

How Its Funds Are Used

The site sets out two main ways money moves through the organisation:

  • Charity performances. For these, Opera Integra receives part of the income, and the remainder goes to a local charity.
  • Its own projects and performances. Donations are described as helping Opera Integra "continue our projects and performances."

Where Its Income Comes From Now

Opera Integra's funding history has shifted over time, and the site is explicit about the current position.

Period Funding situation
Early years Received financial support from Hammersmith & Fulham Council
Until 1994 Ceased to be a local authority workshop and moved its main activities to the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea
Until 2004 Received generous support from the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea
Since 2004 Relies solely on ticket sales, donations, funds raised by its own efforts, and member subscriptions

So the current answer to "how does it use its funds" is tied to how it raises them: with no public subsidy since 2004, the charity depends on ticket sales, donations, its own fundraising, and member subscriptions to keep running its projects and performances.

Can You Donate?

Yes. The site states that Opera Integra "welcomes donations" and is "grateful for any donations, which help us to continue our projects and performances." A PayPal option appears among the site's payment signals, so donating online is one route the organisation offers.

If you want to confirm current donation methods or how a specific performance's proceeds are split with a local charity, check the Opera Integra website directly, since arrangements can vary by event.
