EnglishIs the Gantry Framework Still Maintained After RocketTheme Closed?
Updated
Yes. Gantry is still actively maintained. RocketTheme shut down on June 30, 2025, but the Gantry framework itself was handed off and now lives on independently at gantry.org, stewarded by Tiger12 as its official steward. It continues to support Joomla, WordPress, and Grav.
What happened to RocketTheme
RocketTheme operated from 2005 to 2025, building premium themes and extensions for Joomla, WordPress, phpBB, and Grav, along with the Gantry theme framework that powered those templates. The mission officially concluded on June 30, 2025.
When the site closed, so did the membership club, member downloads, and support forum. No new memberships or renewals are available. What remains is a set of free, open-source archives.
Who maintains Gantry now
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Framework | Gantry, open source |
| Steward | Tiger12 (official steward) |
| Maintenance | Still actively maintained |
| Platforms | Joomla, WordPress, Grav |
| Project site | gantry.org |
The framework is no longer tied to a paid club model — it is open source and maintained by its new steward rather than by RocketTheme.
Where to get Gantry and related downloads
- Gantry Framework — gantry.org. The open-source theme framework behind RocketTheme's templates, for Joomla, WordPress, and Grav.
- RocketTheme on GitHub — github.com/rockettheme. Free Gantry themes, RocketLauncher installers, and developer tooling from the RocketTheme years.
If you are looking for old templates specifically, the GitHub archive is the place to start; the framework itself comes from gantry.org.
What this means if you still use a Gantry-based site
- Your existing Gantry templates are not orphaned — the framework they depend on is still being maintained.
- Support no longer comes from RocketTheme's forum, which closed with the site. For framework-level questions, follow the project at gantry.org.
- For themes and installers, use the GitHub archive rather than the former member download area, which is gone.
Where the former team went
RocketTheme's founder and team continued building elsewhere. If you were part of the community, these are the current projects:
- Trilby Media (trilby.media) — the studio behind RocketTheme; Grav CMS consulting, custom development, managed hosting, and the only official Grav SLA.
- Grav CMS (getgrav.org) — the open-source flat-file CMS that started at RocketTheme in 2014; now shipping as Grav 2.0.
- KahunaCart (kahunacart.com) — ecommerce built into Grav, licensed once.
- SkulkWorks (skulkworks.dev) — native Mac apps such as Riffle (diff & merge) and RasterFox (image optimization); no subscriptions.
- YetiDevWorks (yetidevworks.com) — open-source developer tools in Rust and PHP.
Bottom line
Gantry survived RocketTheme's closure. It is open source, actively maintained, and stewarded by Tiger12 at gantry.org, still serving Joomla, WordPress, and Grav. Old themes and installers remain available through the RocketTheme GitHub archive.
