Planning Your Visit

Weekend Masses and Parking

Free parking is available in the new HEC building for parishioners attending Weekend Masses. Enter from de la Gauchetiere and follow the signs to exit by the front of the Basilica. At the end of Mass, ask one of the employees for the coupon that allows you to exit the HEC parking.

Visiting Outside Mass Times

If you want to visit for prayer rather than a service, plan around these hours:

  • Monday–Friday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. until the 5 p.m. Mass

Note that on holiday closures the schedule can change. For example, the bulletin states that on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12th, the basilica closes after the 12:10 p.m. Mass. Check the current Church Bulletin before a holiday visit.

Confession and First Friday Devotion

Confessions are heard after all Masses, so the simplest approach is to attend a Mass and stay afterward. On every First Friday of the month, Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament takes place from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, before the 12:10 p.m. Mass.

Hearing-Impaired Worshippers

The basilica's sound system broadcasts the Mass on 88.1 FM. Bring your own digital receiver and earphones and tune in to that frequency.

About the Basilica

Saint Patrick's opened its doors on March 17, 1847, and describes itself as the oldest and continuous English-speaking parish in Montreal. The parish identifies as a welcoming and reconciling community with deep roots in the Irish diaspora, now drawing parishioners from many backgrounds as the Mother Church of Montreal's English-speaking Catholics. Msgr. Francis J. Coyle is the pastor.
