Should I Subscribe to Mom-101's Substack or Follow the Social Accounts?
Updated
If you want Liz Gumbinner's writing, subscribe to I'm Walking Here on Substack — the Mom-101 site itself says it's "a bit like this place, only better," and that's where she now publishes. Follow the social accounts if you mainly want short updates and links rather than full posts. The Mom-101 page does not state any price or paywall details, so check the Substack page directly to confirm what's free before subscribing.
What the Mom-101 site tells you
The Mom-101 homepage is now essentially a signpost. In a May 21, 2015 post titled "Where to find me now," Liz Gumbinner writes that she is "not here much anymore" and lists where she has moved to instead. The site's tagline is "I don't know what I'm doing either."
That means the blog archive is still there, but new work isn't being posted to mom-101.com.
Where to find her now
| Destination | What it's best for |
|---|---|
| I'm Walking Here on Substack | Her main writing; described as similar to Mom-101 "only better" |
| Blue Sky (mom101) | Short posts and conversation |
| Threads (mom101) | Short posts and conversation |
| Instagram (mom101) | Visual and day-to-day updates |
| Facebook (mom101blog) | Links and community updates |
| Spawned Podcast | Long-form audio; the site calls it an award-winning podcast |
The site also links directly to the podcast's iTunes page.
How to decide
Subscribe to the Substack if you came to Mom-101 for the writing itself and want it delivered rather than checking back on a dormant blog. The site explicitly frames it as the successor to this space, so it's the closest match to why you'd have followed Mom-101 in the first place.
Follow the social accounts if you want lighter, more frequent touchpoints — reactions, links, and everyday posts — rather than essays. They complement the Substack rather than replace it.
Do both if you want the full picture: Substack for the writing, one or two social platforms for everything in between.
Check the Substack page before committing to any paid tier. The Mom-101 page gives no pricing or subscription-tier information, so nothing here should be read as confirming it's free.
A note on the podcast
Spawned Podcast is listed alongside the social links as another place to find her. If you prefer listening to reading, it's the option to start with — the site describes it as award-winning and links to its iTunes listing.
