Silos Estate Opening Hours and Tasting Booking Rules

Updated

Silos Estate's cellar door in Berry, NSW is open 7 days a week, 11am–5pm, every day except Christmas Day. Tastings should be booked in advance through the website; walk-ins are served subject to availability, so booking is the safer option if a tasting is the main reason for your visit.

Christmas Day Closed

The cellar door operates on the same 11am–5pm schedule every day of the week, so there is no separate weekend or weekday timetable to plan around. The only listed closure is Christmas Day.

How tasting bookings work

Silos Estate asks visitors to book tastings rather than rely on turning up. The site states: "For all tastings please book below" and notes that "Walk-ins will be served subject to availability."

In practice that means two different paths:

  • Booked tasting — you reserve a time in advance, which is the recommended route and the one the estate directs visitors to.
  • Walk-in — you arrive without a booking and are served only if there is capacity at that moment. Availability is not guaranteed.

If your trip is built around tasting the wines, book first. If you are passing through Berry and are flexible about whether you taste, a walk-in may work, but treat it as a maybe rather than a plan.

What else you can do on site

The cellar door sits within a working vineyard, and the estate lists several other activities alongside tasting:

  • Eat — local produce served on site.
  • Stay — cottage accommodation overlooking the vineyards.
  • Shop — wine, gift cards, hampers and alpaca products, with online ordering and delivery.
  • See the alpacas — described as the largest alpaca outlet on the South Coast.
  • Host — weddings, corporate events and location shoots.
  • Charge — EV charging using renewables, at what the estate describes as one of the largest EV stations in Australia.

Because these run alongside the cellar door, a visit can combine tasting with a meal or an overnight stay rather than being a single stop.

Practical points before you go

  • Plan around the 5pm close. Last entry into a tasting depends on how busy the cellar door is, so arriving in the early afternoon leaves more room than arriving near closing.
  • Book if tasting matters. The estate's own wording makes bookings the default and walk-ins the exception.
  • Check the date. Christmas Day is the one stated closure; the 7-day schedule applies otherwise.
  • Allow time beyond the tasting. With food, accommodation, alpacas and shopping on the same property, a quick tasting stop can easily become a half day.
