Visiting Hours and Main Attractions at Churchville Nature Center
Updated
Churchville Nature Center is open for trails from dawn to dusk every day, while the Visitor Center is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10am–5pm. It is an environmental education facility of the Bucks County Department of Parks & Recreation, located on a 65-acre nature preserve next to the Churchville Reservoir in Northampton Township. Plan around the Visitor Center hours if you want to see exhibits or the gift shop; the grounds themselves are accessible from dawn to dusk.
Location and Setting
The center sits on a 65-acre preserve adjacent to the Churchville Reservoir. Founded in 1964, it was the first nature center in Bucks County. For directions and visit details, the site's Plan Your Visit page is the place to check before you go.
Main Attractions
- Trails — two miles of trails for a leisurely hike, open dawn to dusk.
- Native wildlife gardens — including the Marlin D. Corn Wildlife Gardens and botanical gardens.
- Visitor center exhibits — an exhibit-filled visitor center, open Tuesday–Sunday, 10am–5pm.
- Native Butterfly House — a seasonal attraction; the 2026 Butterfly House and Botanical Gardens are highlighted on the site.
- Lenape Village — a program area used for scheduled educational visits.
- Gift shop — inside the Nature Center, open Tuesdays–Sundays, 10am–5pm; currently selling 2026 Butterfly House and Botanical Gardens T-shirts while supplies last, with proceeds benefiting the Butterfly House and Botanical Gardens.
Programs and Events
Beyond self-guided visits, the center runs themed events, weekend programs and nature walks, campfire programs, and summer camps. Scheduled programs are available for schools (K–12 environmental education), scout troops (badge programs), birthday parties, and private groups. The site also publishes a seasonal activity guide—the Fall 2026 Activity Guide is currently posted.
