What Are the Benefits of ACCP Membership and Who Can Join?
Updated
ACCP (the American College of Clinical Pharmacy) offers membership to clinical pharmacists, students, residents, fellows, and graduate students, as well as international pharmacists. Members get access to education and certificate programs, the College's journals, career services, volunteer and leadership opportunities, and member communities. You can join or create an account through the Membership section of accp.com; the site does not publish pricing, so check the Join ACCP page for current dues and any category-specific requirements.
Who can join
The site's Membership menu lists distinct paths for each group, which tells you where you fit:
- Clinical pharmacists — the core professional membership.
- Students — a dedicated student membership path.
- Residents, fellows, and graduate students — a combined path for postgraduate trainees.
- International pharmacists — a separate path for members outside the U.S.
The site also notes that creating an account is free ("Create one for free"), but an account is not the same as membership — membership is a separate step through Join ACCP.
What membership gives you
Based on the site's navigation, member-facing benefits cluster into these areas:
| Area | What's available |
|---|---|
| Education & meetings | Certificate programs (mental health pharmacotherapy, billing and contracting for outpatient services, clinical service implementation, international, oncology genomics, applied pharmacogenomics), recertification, the Annual Meeting, webinars, and travel awards |
| Journals | Access to ACCP's official journals, JACCP and Pharmacotherapy |
| Career advancement | Career Center, board certification FAQs, a directory of residencies, fellowships, and graduate programs, on-demand CV and letter-of-intent review services, and student/postgraduate career pathways |
| Community & volunteering | Practice and Research Networks (PRNs), committees, chapters, affinity groups, a membership directory, and volunteer opportunities |
| Recognition | FCCP (Fellow of ACCP) awards and member spotlights |
| Advocacy & practice resources | Legislative Action Center, advocacy resources, ACCP Papers, and a clinical pharmacist CPA template |
Some items, such as certificate programs and the Annual Meeting, are separate offerings with their own registration — membership is the entry point, not a blanket pass to everything.
How to join
- Go to accp.com and open the Membership menu.
- Choose Join ACCP and select the category that matches your status (pharmacist, student, resident/fellow/graduate student, or international).
- If you don't already have one, create an account first — the site offers free account creation.
- Complete the membership application for your category. Dues and any documentation requirements appear at this step; they are not listed on the public homepage.
To verify it worked: sign in and check My Account — your membership status and any member-only content (such as journal access) should be visible there.
Common sticking points
- Account ≠ membership. Creating a free account only sets up login; you still need to complete a Join ACCP application.
- Choosing the wrong category. Students and postgraduate trainees have separate paths — pick the one that matches your current status so you see the right benefits and rates.
- Cart and sign-in prompts. The site's cart area asks you to sign in before viewing it, so sign in first if you're trying to register for an event or program.
- Pricing isn't public on the homepage. Don't assume membership is free because account creation is; confirm dues on the Join ACCP page for your category.
