What a typical ESUG conference includes

Based on the published programs, an ESUG edition usually combines several components:

  • Main conference track — presentations, including a "Show us your Project" session where attendees present their work.
  • International Workshop on Smalltalk Technologies (IWST) — a research-oriented workshop held alongside the main conference.
  • Summer school — for example, the isLoop / IsLOOP summer school, which in 2025 was colocated with the conference (28th – 30th June) and in 2026 ran as part of the week in Plovdiv.
  • Innovation Technology Awards — a recurring award; the 20th edition took place at ESUG 2025.
  • Camp Smalltalk — a collaborative coding event, held at ESUG 2024.

How to follow or catch up on a conference

If you cannot attend in person, ESUG publishes material after each event:

  1. Slides — posted on Slideshare and in the ESUG Archive.
  2. Videos — posted on YouTube.
  3. Programs — the main conference program and the IWST program are published on the ESUG site for each edition.
