What are the two campuses of Leeds Trinity University?

Updated

Leeds Trinity University has two campuses: Horsforth Campus, which opened in 1966 and is the university's original site, and Leeds City Campus, which opened in October 2024 in Leeds city centre. Your course is based primarily at one of the two, but you can use the facilities, support and opportunities at both.

Horsforth Campus

Horsforth is where Leeds Trinity first opened its doors in 1966, so it carries the university's history and its longest-standing teaching and student facilities. If your course is based here, this is where your timetabled teaching and main day-to-day student life will sit.

Leeds City Campus

The Leeds City Campus launched in October 2024 and is located in the heart of Leeds city centre. It is the newer of the two sites and reflects the university's expansion beyond its original Horsforth location.

How the two campuses work together

The key point for applicants is that the split is not an either/or choice you make independently of your course:

  • Your course is based primarily at either Horsforth Campus or Leeds City Campus — which one depends on the course you apply for.
  • Whichever campus your course sits at, you benefit from the facilities, support and opportunities available across both locations.
  • Both campuses are described as designed to give easy access to what you need for university life.

So the practical question is not "which campus should I pick?" but "which campus is my course based at?" — and then what the other campus adds on top.

How to check which campus applies to you

  1. Go to the university's course search and open the page for the course you're considering.
  2. Look for the campus or location information on that course page — this tells you where the course is primarily based.
  3. Check the university's "Our campuses" page for detail on facilities and travel at each site.
  4. If it isn't clear from the course page, confirm directly with the university before applying, since campus allocation follows the course, not student preference.

Seeing both for yourself

The university runs Open Days, which it describes as the best way to get a feel for university and experience life as a student. If the Horsforth/Leeds City split matters to your decision, an Open Day is the most direct way to compare the two locations — and to ask staff which campus your intended course uses.
