What Are TSA Points and the TrueSteamAchievements Leaderboard?

Updated

TSA points are TrueSteamAchievements' own scoring unit for Steam achievements, and the site leaderboard ranks players by how many of those points they have accumulated. The two are linked: every achievement you earn on a tracked game adds to your personal total, and that total determines your position on the leaderboard. The system exists so that achievements from different games can be compared on a single scale, rather than treating a 5-minute achievement and a 100-hour grind as equal.

How TSA points work

Each achievement on the site carries a TSA value. When you look at a walkthrough listing, you'll see the pattern used throughout the site:

Tree Simulator 2022 Guide — 19 Achievements worth 283 TSA (190 )

The number in parentheses is the base value (the points the achievement is worth before any site multiplier), and the TSA figure is the score credited to your profile. The gap between the two shows that TSA is not a 1:1 copy of the underlying achievement value — the site applies its own weighting.

This matters for how you read any guide page:

  • Achievement count tells you how many achievements a game has.
  • Base value is the raw worth of those achievements.
  • TSA is what actually counts toward your leaderboard position.

So a game with fewer achievements can still be worth more TSA than a game with more, if its individual achievements are weighted higher.

Comparing achievement value across games

The site's own guide listings make the spread visible:

Game Achievements TSA Base value
Tree Simulator 2022 19 283 190
Cat Quest 12 170 120
ROBOBEAT 38 1,022 380
Bitburner 98 2,438 980
The Forgotten City 40 509 400
Quantum Break 42 578 420
Final Fantasy IX 85 1,588 850
Tabletop Simulator 27 886 270

Two things stand out. First, TSA scales with both achievement count and per-achievement weight — Bitburner's 98 achievements produce 2,438 TSA, while Tree Simulator 2022's 19 produce 283. Second, the ratio of TSA to base value is not constant. Tabletop Simulator's 27 achievements are worth 886 TSA against a base of 270, a much steeper multiplier than Final Fantasy IX's 1,588 against 850. If your goal is leaderboard position, the TSA column is the one to compare, not the achievement count.

The site leaderboard

The leaderboard ranks players by total TSA accumulated across their tracked Steam library. The current top of the board, as shown on the site:

Rank Player TSA
1 TheStranger 3,127,997
2 hannez 2,788,926
3 Skaery 2,425,901
4 AFAK 2,260,430
5 Parzival 2,248,204
6 DDtective 2,231,165
7 NEXGENEEZY 2,008,636
8 lylat 1,982,192
9 Sellyme 1,733,290
10 ЯAZФR 1,670,953

A few observations from this list:

  • The top players are separated by tens of thousands of points, not millions — the gap between rank 1 and rank 2 is roughly 339,000 TSA, which is large but reachable over a long period of consistent play.
  • The drop-off is gradual rather than a cliff. Rank 10 sits at about 53% of rank 1's total, so the top tier is competitive but not a closed group.
  • Because TSA is weighted per achievement, climbing the board is not simply about playing the most games — it's about playing games whose achievements carry high TSA values.

Highest scoring games

The site also tracks which games contribute the most TSA in total. The current list:

Game TSA
Zaccaria Pinball 237,186
LOGistICAL 187,228
Guns of Icarus Online 130,578
Tales of Maj'Eyal 126,477

These are aggregate figures across all players, not per-player scores. They tell you which games have the largest total achievement pools by TSA — useful if you want to understand where the bulk of the site's tracked points sit, or if you're looking for games with deep achievement sets.

What this means for you

If you're deciding whether to care about TSA at all, the practical questions are:

  • Do you want a cross-game score? TSA gives you one number that reflects achievement difficulty and volume across your whole library, which raw achievement counts don't.
  • Do you want to rank against others? The leaderboard is the only place that comparison happens, and it's driven entirely by TSA.
  • Are you choosing what to play next? The guide listings show TSA per game, so you can weigh a game's achievement value against its length before committing.

The site's core loop is: register with Steam login, let it read your library, and your TSA total updates as you unlock achievements. Everything else — guides, leaderboards, highest-scoring lists — is built on that single number.
