EnglishWhat Awards and News Are Featured on Plácido Domingo's Website?
Updated
placidodomingo.com highlights recent honors and events through its News and Awards sections, with the homepage surfacing the most current items. As of the site's current content, the featured honor is the Europa Nostra Medal of Honour, awarded in recognition of Domingo's service as Europa Nostra President from 2010 to 2020 and his commitment to Europe's cultural heritage. The homepage also promotes gala performances and foundation activities, including a Gran Gala con Plácido Domingo, a sold-out Verdi Gala in Budapest, and a Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation event.
Awards Featured on the Site
The site's Awards section collects honors and recognitions across Domingo's career. The most prominently displayed recent award is:
- Europa Nostra Medal of Honour — presented in recognition of his exceptional service as President of Europa Nostra from 2010 to 2020 and his enduring commitment to Europe's cultural heritage.
The homepage pairs this award with the "If I rest, I rust®" motto that appears in the site's main heading, framing the honors as part of an ongoing active career rather than a retrospective.
News and Recent Events
The News section covers recent events and announcements. Current homepage features include:
| Item | Type |
|---|---|
| Gran Gala con Plácido Domingo | Gala performance |
| Verdi Gala in Budapest (sold out) | Gala performance |
| Ruben Martin 20th Anniversary Gala | Anniversary event |
| Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation | Foundation activity |
| Domingo Distinguished with the Europa Nostra Medal of Honour | Award announcement |
| Hommage à Pavarotti in Geneva | Upcoming/tribute event |
These items mix performance announcements, award news, and foundation-related activity, so the News section functions as a general update feed rather than a single-topic blog.
Upcoming Performances Listed Alongside News
The homepage also lists upcoming performances, which are distinct from the News items but appear in the same area:
- Gala Concert for Gegham Grigorian's 75th Anniversary — October 16, 2026, Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Yerevan, Armenia (Singing)
- Gala Concert with Asmik Grigorian — October 20, 2026, Royal Arena, Copenhagen, Denmark (Singing)
