What Can LubeLogger Track for My Vehicles?

Updated

LubeLogger is a self-hosted, open-source vehicle maintenance records and fuel mileage tracker. For each vehicle you add, it can track maintenance and repair work, fuel economy, expenses by year/month/category, to-dos and their progress, attached documents such as invoices and receipts, supplies, and recurring maintenance reminders. It supports multiple users and multiple vehicles, so the same instance can hold records for a whole household or fleet.

Maintenance and repair records

The core of the tool is a log of all work done on your vehicles. You record service and repair entries against a vehicle, and the app keeps them together as that vehicle's history. This is the record you would otherwise keep in a paper logbook or a spreadsheet.

Fuel economy tracking

LubeLogger tracks the fuel economy of your vehicles and supports four units:

  • MPG (US)
  • UK MPG
  • L/100KM
  • KM/L

Because the unit is selectable, the same vehicle data can be read in the convention you actually use, rather than converting by hand.

Expense tracking

Expenses can be viewed by year, month, and category. That breakdown is what turns a pile of receipts into something you can actually look at — for example, seeing how much a vehicle cost you in a given year, or which category (fuel, service, parts) dominates your spending.

To-dos and progress

There is a planner for to-dos, where you plan and track the progress of each item. To-dos can be grouped by type, priority, and progress, so pending work on a vehicle doesn't get lost between services.

Documents and attachments

You can attach documents such as invoices and receipts to your records. Keeping the paperwork linked to the entry means the cost and the proof live in the same place.

Reminders and supplies

Recurring reminders can be set based on date, odometer, or whichever comes first — so a service due at 10,000 km or 12 months triggers on the earlier of the two. There is also a supplies section for tracking the parts and consumables you keep on hand.

Other capabilities worth knowing

Beyond the core features, the project lists professional vehicle reports, multiple users, user-customizable fields, CSV imports/exports, an API, and single sign-on. Custom fields matter if your vehicles need data the default record doesn't cover; CSV import matters if you are migrating from a spreadsheet.

How to see it without installing

LubeLogger offers a demo. Log in with the username test and password 1234 to explore the dashboard, planner, vehicle records, fuel tracker, supplies, and reminders before deciding whether to self-host it.
