What Classes and Workshops Does Seattle Rep Offer?
Updated
Seattle Rep offers theater classes and workshops through two tracks: Young Rep for ages 13–20 and Rep Pro for adults 18+. Registration for Fall 2026 classes is currently open, with sessions running from October through December 2026. You can sign up through the Classes & Workshops section of seattlerep.org.
Who the Programs Are For
| Program | Ages | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Young Rep | 13–20 | Playwriting, production intensives, and seasonal classes |
| Rep Pro | 18+ | Actor training and text-based classes such as Shakespeare |
| Seattle Rep Studios Community Choir | Ages 13+ | Community singing, open to teens and adults |
The split matters when choosing: teens enroll in Young Rep, adults in Rep Pro, and the Community Choir is the one offering that spans both age groups.
Fall 2026 Schedule
The published Fall 2026 lineup includes:
- Young Rep Fall Class: Playwriting — Saturdays, Oct. 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2026, 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
- Young Rep Winter Production Intensive: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever — Oct. 6–Dec. 20, 2026
- Seattle Rep Studios Community Choir — Second Sundays (Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8, and Dec. 13) from 5–7 p.m.
Note the structure: the Actor's Studio runs as separate October and November sessions, so you can pick one or both. The Playwriting class meets four Saturdays; the Shakespeare class meets four Thursdays. The Winter Production Intensive is the longest commitment, spanning roughly two and a half months and ending with a production.
How to Sign Up
- Go to seattlerep.org and open the Classes & Workshops section (also reachable from the main menu under Education).
- Choose the program that matches your age group — Young Rep or Rep Pro — and the specific class or session.
- Complete registration for Fall 2026. The site lists Fall Theater Classes (Sept.–Nov. 2026) as open for registration for both Young Rep and Rep Pro.
The site does not publish class prices or capacity details in the available information, so confirm cost and availability at the point of registration rather than assuming a figure.
Practical Notes Before Registering
- Check the dates carefully. Sessions are short and specific — a missed Saturday in the Playwriting class is a quarter of the course.
- Age eligibility is stated, not flexible. Young Rep is listed for 13–20 and Rep Pro for 18+, so confirm your fit before enrolling.
- The Community Choir is drop-in friendly by design. It meets on four separate Sunday evenings, which suits people who can't commit to a weekly class.
- For a bigger commitment, consider the Winter Production Intensive. It runs October through December and culminates in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, making it the most involved option on the schedule.
If you're also planning to attend performances, Seattle Rep's Plan Your Visit pages cover parking, accessibility, health protocols, and family information, and the main site lists current and upcoming productions alongside the class offerings.
