What Competitions and Organizations Is South Florida Jubilee Chorus Part Of?

Updated

South Florida Jubilee Chorus competes in the Coastal Harmony Region 9 Competition and belongs to Region 9 Coastal Harmony, which is one of 24 regions that make up Sweet Adelines International. The chorus's own site lists both a 2025 and a 2024 Coastal Harmony Region 9 Competition, so the competition is a recurring part of its calendar rather than a one-time appearance.

The organizations behind the chorus

Organization Relationship to the chorus
Sweet Adelines International The international parent organization; South Florida Jubilee is part of it through its region
Region 9 Coastal Harmony The regional body the chorus belongs to; one of 24 regions within Sweet Adelines International
South Florida Jubilee Chorus An award-winning treble chorus performing a cappella barbershop-style music in four-part harmony, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

The chain runs from local to international: the chorus sits inside Region 9 Coastal Harmony, and Region 9 is one of the 24 regions that form Sweet Adelines International.

Competitions on the chorus calendar

The site references these competition-related entries:

  • 2025 Coastal Harmony Region 9 Competition
  • 2024 Coastal Harmony Region 9 Competition

Both are named for the same regional competition, which indicates the chorus takes part in it across multiple years. The site does not publish placement results, scores, or a full competition history, so the specific outcomes of these events are not available from the page itself.

What this means if you're deciding whether to get involved

  • If you want to compete: the Coastal Harmony Region 9 Competition is the event to watch, and it recurs annually based on the 2024 and 2025 listings.
  • If you want to understand the chorus's level: the site describes South Florida Jubilee as "award-winning," but does not specify which awards or which competitions those came from.
  • If you want the broader network: membership in the chorus connects you to Region 9 Coastal Harmony and, through it, to Sweet Adelines International.

Seeing the chorus in person

Rehearsals are open to the public and to potential new members, which is the simplest way to see the group before or outside of a competition setting. They rehearse every Thursday evening at 7pm at Polynesian Gardens Condominium Clubhouse, 400 NW 68th Ave, Plantation, FL 33317. Note that some listed rehearsal events show a 7:15pm start, so it's worth confirming the time before a first visit.

The chorus also performs at private functions — corporate events, charity and community events, birthday and Christmas parties, awards nights, weddings, engagements, anniversaries, and funerals or memorial services — if you'd rather book them than attend a competition.
