What customization options does OneLinePlayer offer?

Updated

OneLinePlayer lets you adjust a video's quality, size, cover image, playback behavior, and visual styling before you copy the embed code. All of these options are available in the "Adjust" section of the site, and they apply to videos you load from Vimeo, Dropbox, or a public video file URL. The main exception is Vimeo control customization, which the site says is only available if your video is on a Vimeo Plus plan or above.

Quality settings

You can pick a fixed resolution or let the player decide:

  • Auto – the player chooses the quality.
  • 1080p
  • 720p
  • 540p

The site marks the quality option as "Highly recommended," so it is worth setting rather than leaving entirely to chance.

Cover image and sizing

  • Cover image – you can supply a poster image that displays before playback. The site validates this field and shows a poster error if the source is invalid.
  • Size – choose between:
    • Responsive – the player scales to its container.
    • Custom – you set the dimensions yourself.

Playback behavior

These toggles control how the video behaves on load and during playback:

  • Autoplay
  • Auto pause
  • Loop
  • Mute
  • GIF mode – imitates GIF behavior: no sound, passive autoplay, and no controls.

GIF mode is the most aggressive option because it strips sound and controls entirely, so it suits decorative or background clips rather than videos viewers need to control.

Advanced styling

Beyond behavior, you can restyle the player's appearance:

  • Play button – color and size.
  • Color overlay – color and opacity.
  • Shadow – X and Y offset, blur, spread.
  • Stroke – color and thickness.

A Reset control restores the defaults if you change too much.

What you cannot customize freely

The site notes that, due to Vimeo's terms of use, control customization is only provided if your video has a Vimeo Plus plan or above. So if you are embedding a basic Vimeo video, expect the player controls to stay closer to default regardless of what you set in the styling panel.

How to apply these options

  1. Paste a Vimeo link, a Dropbox shared link, or a public URL to your video file.
  2. Set quality, cover image, and size.
  3. Toggle autoplay, auto pause, loop, mute, or GIF mode as needed.
  4. Adjust play button, overlay, shadow, and stroke styling.
  5. Copy the generated embed code (also available via npm or CDN) and place it on your site.

One practical caution from the site itself: make sure your video is optimized for web before embedding, or playback may be interrupted. Supported formats are .webm, .ogg, .mp4, and .mov, and Google Drive does not support files over 100 MB.
