What Events Does the Greater Milwaukee Brittany Club Host?

The Greater Milwaukee Brittany Club (GMBC) hosts field trials, hunt tests, training sessions, conformation and obedience events, and social gatherings such as an awards banquet. What Each Event Type Involves

Field Trials

Field trials are competitive events that test a Brittany's hunting ability, including finding and pointing birds. GMBC holds spring and fall field trials at Bong, plus a fall walking field trial at Ottawa in October. A premium (entry document) is posted for the fall trial — for example, the October 10–11, 2026 trial at Ottawa Dog Grounds in Eagle, WI lists a downloadable premium file.

Hunt Tests

Hunt tests evaluate a dog's hunting skills against a standard rather than against other dogs. GMBC runs spring and fall hunt tests at Ottawa, typically in May and September.

Training Sessions

Training meetings give owners and dogs a chance to practice in a group setting. The 2026 calendar includes a June training meeting at Ottawa and an August "Find Flush Fire" training weekend, also at Ottawa.

Conformation, Obedience, and Social Events

The club sponsors conformation and obedience shows, including a specialty show in West Bend on June 27. It also holds social events, such as the awards banquet on January 16, 2027 at Aliota's in Wauwatosa, WI.

Why the Club Runs These Events

The Greater Milwaukee Brittany Club states two main goals: encouraging the highest standards in breeding, training, and exhibiting dogs, and promoting cooperation and friendship among owners and breeders. The events above are the club's way of working toward those goals. It is a regional club of the American Brittany Club and was celebrating its 59th year at the time the page was published.
