What Games and Classic Apps Are Included in the Windows 7 Games Package from win7games.com?
Updated
The Windows 7 Games package from win7games.com bundles the classic games that Microsoft removed starting with Windows 8, plus a set of legacy desktop apps. It installs on Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 8, and the current release is version 4.3 (August 1, 2026). The games list below is the full set offered by the installer; the Internet games are now an optional component because Microsoft shut down their servers.
Classic games included
The package restores the Windows 7 game lineup:
- Solitaire
- Spider Solitaire
- Minesweeper
- FreeCell
- Hearts
- Chess Titans
- Mahjong Titans
- Purble Place
- Internet Spades
- Internet Checkers
- Internet Backgammon
The first eight are local games and work as they did in Windows 7. The three Internet games are grouped as a separate optional set — the installer lets you skip them, and the site notes they are "nearly impossible to play" since Microsoft turned off the game servers.
Classic apps included alongside the games
The package also carries several legacy Windows accessories:
| App | Notes |
|---|---|
| Classic Calculator | The old-style calculator |
| WordPad | Restored for Windows 11 |
| Classic Notepad | Old Notepad build |
| Classic Sticky Notes | Legacy Sticky Notes |
| Classic Task Manager | Old Task Manager |
| Classic MSConfig | Old System Configuration tool |
| Classic Paint | Legacy Paint |
| Aurora Screensaver | The Windows Vista/7-era screensaver |
These are the same classic applications the site lists under its "other classic apps" section, so you get them in the same download as the games.
What changed in version 4.3
Two items are worth knowing before you install:
- Game Explorer is no longer installed. The non-working Game Explorer component was dropped from the package.
- Internet Games are optional. Because the Microsoft game servers are offline, you can deselect this set during setup.
Version 4.3 also fixed a bug where deselecting Chess caused menus and controls to disappear in localized Windows versions, and a bug where the installer still offered a desktop shortcut for a game you had deselected. The installer no longer writes to the System32 directory, which resolves the "Error opening file for writing: C:\Windows\System32\en-US\cmncliM.dll.mui" error on Windows 11. Setup size was roughly halved through new packaging, and HiDPI displays are now supported.
How to choose what to install
If you only want the card and board games, you can leave the Internet games unchecked and skip the classic apps you don't need — the installer exposes each item as a selectable component. If you want the full Windows 7 experience, keep everything except the Internet games, since those cannot connect to a server. For silent or unattended deployment, the package supports an unattend mode via command line, which is useful if you are setting up several machines.
