What Is 1Oklahoma and How Does It Relate to Oklahoma Sooners Athletics?

Updated

1Oklahoma is the University of Oklahoma's exclusive Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) partner, according to the official athletics website soonersports.com. It exists to create NIL opportunities for OU student-athletes while giving Sooner fans ways to engage with and support them. If you want to understand how fan participation connects to athlete compensation at Oklahoma, 1Oklahoma is the official channel the athletics department points to.

What 1Oklahoma Does

The site describes 1Oklahoma's mission as redefining NIL "through collaboration and innovation, creating enduring value for Sooner Nation." In practice, that means two connected goals:

  • For student-athletes: securing financial opportunities through NIL deals and partnerships.
  • For fans: offering "dynamic, engaging experiences and products" tied to Sooner athletics.

The stated aim is to "empower our Student-Athletes" while giving passionate fans a way to participate. So 1Oklahoma sits between the athletes who provide their name, image, and likeness and the fans who want to support them.

How It Relates to Oklahoma Sooners Athletics

1Oklahoma is not a separate fan club or a general athletics booster page — the website frames it as the university's exclusive NIL partner. That makes it the official route the athletics department highlights for NIL-related fan involvement, alongside other support channels like the Sooner Club (which the site links for premium seating) and facility fundraising campaigns.

The site also places 1Oklahoma in its Quick Links menu and in a homepage slideshow panel, which signals it is treated as a core fan-facing program rather than a side project.

How to Get Involved

The website provides a "Join Today" call to action on the 1Oklahoma panel and a "Join 1Oklahoma" entry in the Quick Links section. To participate:

  1. Go to soonersports.com.
  2. Find the 1Oklahoma panel on the homepage or the "Join 1Oklahoma" link in Quick Links.
  3. Follow the join link to see current membership or participation options.

The site excerpt does not list specific membership tiers, prices, or what each level includes, so check the join page for current details before committing.

What to Keep in Mind

  • NIL rules vary by state and institution. The site describes 1Oklahoma's purpose but does not spell out the legal or compliance mechanics; those details would come from the program itself.
  • Don't confuse it with other support options. Premium seating runs through the Sooner Club, and facility projects are funded through separate campaigns like "Lead On for Champions." 1Oklahoma is specifically the NIL channel.
  • Availability and terms can change. Because the site does not publish pricing or eligibility details in the material reviewed, treat any specific offer as something to confirm on the official join page.
