What Is a Call of Duty Masterlist and How Do You Use One to Find Servers?
Updated
A masterlist is a live directory of game servers for a specific Call of Duty title. On a site like COD1 v1.1, it shows each server's name, IP address and port, current map, player count, and your ping, so you can pick a server and connect to it directly. It is a discovery tool only: it does not include the game itself, and it does not guarantee anti-cheat or moderation on the servers it lists.
What a masterlist actually shows you
The COD1 v1.1 masterlist displays a table of servers with several columns of live data. From the page evidence, a typical entry includes:
- Server name (
sv_hostname) — often with a clan tag, region, or mode label, e.g.Revive TDM | Cod1.net/ Discord - Connect string — the IP and port you use to join, e.g.
/connect 51.195.89.86:28960 - Game type (
g_gametype) — such assd(Search & Destroy) ortdm(Team Deathmatch) - Map (
mapname) — the current map, e.g.mp_carentan,mp_harbor,zh_docks - Players — current players out of the slot limit, e.g.
14 / 34or11 / 64 - Mod/version tag — e.g.
CEx(CODExtended) with a build date
The page also shows a summary line: "There are currently 45 players online on 9 of 52 servers," with an update timestamp. That tells you the list is refreshed continuously, so the numbers you see are close to real time.
How to filter the list to find a server
The masterlist gives you several filters so you don't have to scan all 52 servers:
- Version tabs —
1.1,1.2,1.3,1.4,1.5,1.6x. Pick the tab matching your installed game version, since a 1.1 client cannot join a 1.5 server. - Hide empty — removes servers with zero players, so you only see games you can actually join.
- Hide password — removes password-protected servers you can't enter without credentials.
- Ping column — shows your latency to each server. Lower is better; the evidence shows values ranging from
0msto272ms.
A practical filter order: select your version tab, enable "hide empty," then sort mentally by ping and player count. A server with 10+ players and under ~80ms ping is usually a good first pick.
How to connect once you've chosen a server
The masterlist gives you the exact connect string, so you don't need to search in-game.
- Copy the IP and port from the server's connect field, e.g.
20.174.19.30:20600. - Open the Call of Duty 1 console (default key is
~). - Type
/connect 20.174.19.30:20600and press Enter. - The game loads the server's current map and mod, and you join the match.
The expected result is that you land in the server's current round. If the connection fails, the usual causes are a version mismatch (your client vs. the server's tab), a full server, or a password you don't have.
What to check before you commit to a server
| Signal | What it tells you | When to care |
|---|---|---|
| Ping | Your latency to the server | Always — high ping means lag |
| Players / slots | How full and how active it is | If you want a populated game |
| Game type | The mode being played | If you want TDM vs. S&D |
| Mod tag (e.g. CEx) | Custom content or rules | If you want vanilla vs. modded |
| Password flag | Whether entry is restricted | If you don't have the password |
The evidence shows servers running different mods and builds — for example, CODExtended v20 with dates like "Sep 17 2025" or "May 13 2026." A server's mod can change weapons, rules, or maps, so check the tag if you want a specific experience.
What a masterlist does not do
- It does not provide the game files. You still need a legitimate copy of Call of Duty 1 installed.
- It does not enforce anti-cheat. Server-side moderation and any anti-cheat are up to each server operator.
- It does not guarantee a server stays online. The list reflects current status, and servers can go down between refreshes.
Treat the masterlist as a live index: it gets you to the right server fast, but the quality of the match depends on the server you pick.
