What Is Actorsingers?

Updated

Actorsingers is a community theatre organization that has been producing shows since 1955. It stages multiple types of productions each year — Mainstage shows in spring and fall, Second Stage & Fringe productions, and a Teen Actorsingers musical each summer — and performs Mainstage shows at Keefe Auditorium. It is open to community participation both on stage (through auditions) and off stage (through donations, program ads, and wishlist item donations).

What Actorsingers Produces

Actorsingers runs three distinct production tracks, each with a different audience and age range.

Production type Typical timing Who can take part Where
Mainstage Two shows a year, spring and fall Anyone ages 16 and above Keefe Auditorium
Second Stage & Fringe Started in 2015 Not specified on the site Not specified on the site
Teen Actorsingers A hit musical every summer Ages 13–19 Not specified on the site

Mainstage

Mainstage is the organization's core program. Actorsingers typically produces two Mainstage shows a year, one in the spring and one in the fall. These are performed at Keefe Auditorium, and auditions are open to anyone ages 16 and above.

Second Stage & Fringe

The Fringe program began in 2015 with the New Hampshire debut of American Idiot the Musical. According to the organization, Fringe productions aim to attract both non-traditional theatregoers and regular theatregoers, with the goal of bringing a new generation into theatre — both as audience members and behind the scenes.

Teen Actorsingers

Teen Actorsingers produces a musical every summer, described as featuring high-energy voices and creative choreography. Past Teen shows include Legally Blonde, Grease, Swing!, Copacabana, Urinetown, Fame, Footloose, and The Wiz. Auditions typically fall between March and May, for ages 13–19.

How to Get Involved

There are two main paths into Actorsingers: auditioning for a show, or supporting the organization financially or through donated items.

To perform: Watch for audition announcements tied to each production. Mainstage auditions are open to ages 16 and up; Teen auditions are for ages 13–19 and usually happen between March and May.

To support: The "Support Us" section lists several options:

  • Make a cash donation
  • Buy a program ad
  • Donate items from the organization's wishlist

Tickets for shows are sold through a dedicated Buy Tickets page.

Sponsorship

Actorsingers acknowledges its 2025–2026 sponsors, listing one Gold Sponsor and several Silver Sponsors. Sponsorship is a separate form of support from individual donations and program ads.

The Short Version

If you are looking for a long-running community theatre in the New Hampshire area, Actorsingers offers three ways to participate: Mainstage for ages 16+, Teen productions for ages 13–19, and Fringe shows aimed at broadening the audience. You can take part by auditioning, buying tickets, donating, purchasing a program ad, or contributing wishlist items.
