What Is Ancient City Con and What Should Attendees Expect?

Updated

Ancient City Con (ACC) is a comic, anime, and cosplay convention held at the World Golf Village Resort in St. Augustine, Florida. The official site lists the next edition as September 24–26, 2027, at the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort (500 S Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, FL), with the St. Johns Convention Center attached to the hotel. It suits local and regional cosplay fans and anyone who follows comics, anime, and adjacent fandoms. The site does not publish ticket prices or a full schedule, so confirm those before committing to travel.

Where and When

Detail Information
Dates September 24–26, 2027
Venue World Golf Village Renaissance Resort
Address 500 S Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, FL
Convention space St. Johns Convention Center, attached to the Renaissance Resort
Region St. Johns County, Florida

Because the convention center is attached to the host hotel, attendees staying on site can move between lodging and the show floor without leaving the property — a practical advantage for a three-day event.

What the Show Is Known For

The organizers describe ACC as a celebration of local and regional cosplay that welcomes "all fandoms." The site notes the convention was voted Best Cosplayer Event in the FOLIO readers poll for the third year in a row, which signals that cosplay is a central draw rather than a side attraction. The event's identity artwork comes from comic artist Jeff Whiting, and the site credits a promotional video by Jack Drain.

Beyond cosplay, the show's own keywords point to anime, comics, and comic books, so expect a mix of costume programming, artist and vendor areas, and fandom-focused content rather than a single-genre event.

A Comics Tie-In Worth Knowing

ACC has partnered with Coliseum of Comics on an exclusive variant cover for the first trade paperback of D'ORC, "The Book of Certain Doom." The cover, by illustrator Ryan English (The Vigis), shows D'ORC being flung from battle atop St. Augustine's Castillo de San Marcos. The limited-edition variant collects issues #1–#5 and is slated to reach most Coliseum of Comics locations on July 22, 2026. If you collect convention-exclusive comics, this is a reason to check participating stores rather than assume the book is sold only at the show.

Deciding Whether to Go

ACC is a reasonable fit if you:

  • Want a regional cosplay-focused weekend in northeast Florida and value a hotel-attached venue.
  • Follow comics and anime broadly and are comfortable with a multi-fandom mix.
  • Are planning well ahead — the published dates are for 2027, so travel and hotel booking can be arranged early.

It may be a weaker fit if you need a confirmed guest list, panel schedule, or ticket pricing before deciding; those details are not on the page reviewed here. In that case, check the official site and the convention's social channels as the date approaches.
