What is Care for the Carers (cftc.org.uk)?

Updated

Care for the Carers is a charity that supports unpaid carers in East Sussex, England. It is aimed at people who look after a friend, family member or neighbour who could not cope without their support. If that describes you, or someone you know in East Sussex, the organisation offers advice, services and a point of contact through its Carers Hub.

Who the charity is for

The site defines a carer broadly: you do not need to be a paid professional or a full-time carer. According to the organisation, 1 in 10 people in East Sussex care for someone.

You may be a carer if you:

  • Look after a friend, family member or neighbour
  • Provide support that the person could not manage without
  • Do this unpaid, alongside work, study, or your own family responsibilities

The charity also highlights young carers specifically, including a Young Carers Appeal tied to Carers Week 2026.
