What Is Cute Stock Footage?

Updated

Cute Stock Footage (cutestockfootage.com) is a stock video library offering free HD and 4K clips. Its own homepage describes it as "completely free stock video footage" and highlights categories including VFX, light leaks, overlays, and backgrounds. If you need footage for a video edit and want to avoid paying per clip, it is worth checking — but "free" here describes the download, not a license you can assume covers every use.

What the site offers

The homepage presents the library around three entry points:

  • Latest Videos — "Newest free HD video footage," a running feed of recent uploads.
  • Discover — browsing by "free video categories and tags."
  • 4K clips — the main heading advertises "Download Brilliant Free 4K Stock Video Clips."

One example clip listed on the page is titled Panorama Over The Lake Near Forest 1, which gives a sense of the nature/scenic content mixed in with the effect footage.

The stated content types — VFX, light leaks, overlays, backgrounds — are the kind of material editors layer on top of primary footage rather than use as standalone scenes. That shapes who the site suits.

Who it fits

Your situation Fit
You need overlays, light leaks, or background textures for an edit Strong — this is the site's stated focus
You want free HD/4K scenic or general b-roll Possible, but check the category and tag browse for coverage
You need a guaranteed commercial license with documentation Verify the license terms on the site before downloading
You need a specific shot on a deadline A general library may not have it; treat this as one source among several

What to check before you download

The page evidence confirms the site markets its footage as free and offers HD and 4K clips, but it does not state license terms, attribution requirements, or restrictions in the material available here. Before using a clip in a client project, monetized video, or broadcast, read the license page on the site itself and confirm:

  1. Whether commercial use is permitted.
  2. Whether attribution is required.
  3. Whether any clips carry restrictions (e.g., identifiable people or logos).

Downloading is free per the site's description; that does not by itself settle how you may use the file.

How to use it

  1. Open cutestockfootage.com.
  2. Browse Latest Videos for recent uploads or Discover to filter by category and tag.
  3. Preview a clip and confirm the resolution (HD or 4K) matches your project.
  4. Download, then check the license terms before publishing.

If the library lacks what you need, the same categories — light leaks, overlays, VFX — are widely available from other free and paid stock sources, so treat Cute Stock Footage as one option rather than the only one.
