Updated

Deep South Carriage, Inc. is a family-owned horse-drawn carriage company based in Mississippi that has been providing carriages for weddings and special events across Mississippi and Louisiana since 2005. It offers three different carriage styles and serves both Central Mississippi and Northern Louisiana, with travel to other areas when no other carriage operator is available there.

What services does Deep South Carriage offer?

The company provides horse-drawn carriages for a wide range of occasions, including:

  • Weddings and wedding photography
  • Proms and homecomings
  • Birthday parties and anniversaries
  • Graduations
  • Church activities
  • Business promotions, trade shows, and business openings
  • Romantic carriage rides in the country

According to the company, a horse-drawn carriage provides the same function as a limousine but with more style.

Where does Deep South Carriage operate?

The company primarily serves Central Mississippi and Northern Louisiana, but states it is willing to travel anywhere in Mississippi or Louisiana if no other horse-drawn carriage operator is available in that area.

Mississippi service areas

The company lists coverage in these counties: Hinds, Rankin, Madison, Warren, and Yazoo. Cities and towns named include Jackson, Flowood, Brandon, Pearl, Vicksburg, Richland, Ridgeland, Clinton, Florence, Crystal Springs, Hazlehurst, Brookhaven, Morton, Forest, Newton, Canton, Durant, Kosciusko, Yazoo City, Port Gibson, Raymond, Flora, Madison, Gluckstadt, Vaughan, Winona, Grenada, Mendenhall, Magee, Prentiss, Hattiesburg, McComb, Byram, Meridian, Pelahatchie, and Utica.

What should you know before booking?

A few details from the company's own description are worth noting when deciding whether to reach out:

  • Three carriage styles are available, so you can choose one suited to a formal wedding or a children's party.
  • A farrier is on staff, which the company presents as assurance that its horses are sound and well cared for.
  • Events of any size are accepted — the company states that no matter how large or small, your event will be treated as its most important.
  • Pricing is described as "reasonable" but no rates, packages, or payment details are published on the page, so cost and availability need to be confirmed directly.

How to contact Deep South Carriage

If your event falls outside Central Mississippi or Northern Louisiana, it is worth asking whether another operator already covers your area, since the company's stated policy is to travel farther only when no local carriage provider is available.
