What Is EDQG (Edmonton & District Quilters' Guild)?

Updated

EDQG, at edqg.ca, is the Edmonton & District Quilters' Guild: a non-profit organization based in Edmonton, Alberta, that promotes quilting and supports quilting activities. It was founded in 1979 with 35 members and now has over 200. Membership is open to anyone interested in quilting, so the site is relevant whether you want to join, attend a meeting, or simply follow the guild's events.

What the Guild Does

The guild's stated objectives are:

  • Contribute to knowledge of and appreciation for fine quilts
  • Sponsor and support quilting activities
  • Encourage quilt making and collecting
  • Grow knowledge of quilting techniques, textiles, patterns, history, and quilt-makers through educational meetings, travel, and fellowship

The organization is run by volunteers who oversee its operation. It is also a member of the Focus on Fibre Art Association (FFAA), and EDQG members may access programs and workshops offered by FFAA.

Meetings and How to Attend

Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 pm, with exceptions in December, July, and August.
