What Is gats.io and What Kind of Game Does It Offer?

Updated

gats.io is a free-to-play, browser-based arena shooter where you pick a weapon, unlock power-ups, track your stats, and fight other players in real time. You can jump into public matches in Free-For-All (FFA), Team Deathmatch (TDM), or Domination (DOM), or host your own custom or private server with adjusted rules. One important condition: the game itself does not support mobile devices—only the separate stats site at stats.gats.io works on phones.

Core Gameplay

The game is built around fast, short matches in a shared arena. Before playing, you choose a weapon and armor color/type, then enter a match. The site describes the experience as "fast-paced," with power-ups you unlock as you play and stats you can track over time. Combat is real-time against other connected players, not turn-based or single-player.

Game Modes

Mode What it means
FFA Free-For-All — every player for themselves
TDM Team Deathmatch — two teams compete
DOM Domination — teams fight over control points

Public vs. Custom Servers

You have two ways to play:

  • Public servers — join an existing match by region (North America or Europe), game type, and player count. The server browser shows location and current players.
  • Custom / private servers — host your own with detailed settings, then share an invite link.

When hosting, the server creation panel lets you configure:

  • Capacity (1–81 players), privacy (public/private), region, and game type
  • Weapon restrictions — Any, Pistol Only, SMG Only, Shotgun Only, Assault Only, Sniper Only, or LMG Only
  • Armor rules — Any, No Armor, or Armor I–III only
  • Damage multiplier (0.5x to 3.0x), collision damage (none, players, objects, or both)
  • Starting upgrades (none through Tier Three), plus recharge rates for perks, health, armor, and player/bullet speed
  • Block density, bottomless mags, and toggles to disable fog or score squares

Hosted servers stop automatically after being empty for a while, and you can launch a new one once the old server has stopped.

Accounts and Stats

You can play without logging in, but the site offers registration and login (username/email and password, with a "remember me" option and password recovery). An account is how you keep track of stats and progress. A separate site, stats.gats.io, is where stats are viewable—and unlike the game, it works on mobile.

Things to Know Before You Play

  • Desktop only for gameplay. The site explicitly states mobile devices are not supported for the game.
  • Server availability can vary. The page includes a maintenance notice and a player-reported comment about servers not loading, so occasional downtime is possible.
  • Custom rules change the feel. Damage multipliers, starting upgrades, and weapon restrictions can make a match much faster or more tactical—useful if standard public play feels too chaotic or too slow.

If you want a quick, no-install shooter you can play in a browser on a computer, gats.io fits that need; if you're on a phone, you're limited to checking stats rather than playing.
