What is Girlguiding LaSER?
Updated
Girlguiding LaSER (Girlguiding London and South East England) is the regional branch of Girlguiding covering London and South East England. It serves girls aged 4–18 across London, Kent, Croydon, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex, and is organised into 19 counties. If you are looking for a local guiding group for a girl, or want to volunteer in this region, LaSER is the body that coordinates that activity.
Who it serves
LaSER's membership, as stated on its website, includes:
- 44,000+ girls aged 4–18
- 11,200 volunteers who give their time, talents and enthusiasm
- 2,990 local groups running activities week in, week out
The region covers six areas: London, Kent, Croydon, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex. These are divided into 19 counties, which are the local structures that organise groups and events.
What it does
The stated purpose is to help girls know they can do anything — building confidence, giving girls a voice, and creating space to laugh, learn, explore and have adventures. In practice this means weekly local group meetings plus wider events and opportunities across the region.
How to get involved
The site offers two main routes:
- Join us — parents and carers can register a daughter to find a local group.
- Volunteer with us — adults can give time to support girls, with the aim of helping them find their voice and stand up for themselves.
There is also a What's on section listing current events and opportunities for girls, adults, members and volunteers, and a Latest news section for regional updates.
Where to go next
If your question is about a specific girl joining, start with the Join us route to find a group near you. If you want to help run guiding, use the Volunteer with us route. For events and current opportunities, check the What's on page.
