What Is GQueues Board View and How Does It Work?

Updated

GQueues Board view is a kanban-style view of your tasks that shows where every piece of work stands at a glance. It is available in GQueues, the task manager built for teams using Google Workspace, and it is aimed at teams that want to spot bottlenecks quickly instead of scanning long task lists. You organize tasks into columns by status, assignee, date, priority, or another attribute, and each column gives a project structure so you can focus on moving work forward. GQueues offers a free start with no credit card required, and pricing details are listed on its pricing page.

How Board view works

Board view turns your task data into columns. Each column represents a value of whatever attribute you choose to group by, and each task appears as a card in the matching column.

  • Choose the grouping. Group by status (for example, to-do, in progress, done), by who is assigned, by date, or by priority.
  • Read the board. Every column shows the tasks that share that value, so the state of the project is visible all at once.
  • Find bottlenecks. If one column is crowded while the next one is empty, work is piling up at that stage. The GQueues site describes Board view as a way to "see where everything stands, all at once, and identify bottlenecks in an instant."
  • Move work forward. Because columns give the project structure, the board becomes a working surface for progressing tasks rather than just a report.

The same tasks remain in your normal GQueues lists; Board view is another way of looking at them, not a separate project.

Where it fits in a Google Workspace team

Board view is one feature of a task manager that connects to the Google tools a team already uses. According to GQueues, those integrations include:

Integration What it does
Google Calendar syncing Real-time, two-way syncing, so tasks added in Calendar or GQueues update in both places
Gmail Add-on Turns emails into tasks so key details stay within reach
Google Drive attachments Attach files to tasks and create new Sheets, Docs, and Slides from GQueues, with sharing and permissions handled automatically
Google Chrome extension Create tasks from Chrome while browsing, or save web pages to review later
Google Contacts integration Use existing contacts to share work and delegate tasks

For a team already on Google Workspace, this means Board view sits on top of tools they know rather than requiring a separate all-in-one system.

When Board view is a good fit

Board view suits you if:

  • Your team tracks work in stages and needs to see the whole pipeline at once.
  • You want to group the same tasks different ways — by status this week, by assignee next week — without rebuilding the project.
  • You are already using Google Workspace and want task management that connects to Calendar, Gmail, and Drive.

It is less useful if your work is a simple flat checklist with no stages or owners, since a board adds structure you would not use.

Trying it

GQueues invites visitors to start free, stating it takes about 30 seconds and requires no credit card. From there, the practical path is to open a project, switch to Board view, pick a grouping such as status or assignee, and check whether the columns match how your team actually moves work. If a column has no meaning for your project, change the grouping rather than forcing tasks into it.
