What Is Included in PBNify's Free Paint-by-Number Design?
Updated
PBNify's free design gives you three things: a numbered paint-by-number preview of your photo, a print-ready PDF you can use at home, and a color guide matched to that design. It's enough to complete a DIY project on your own, and it also works as a preview before you decide whether to order a full kit. You only need to upload a photo to generate it — no design work on your end.
The three parts of the free design
1. Paint-by-number generated preview
After you upload a photo, PBNify converts it into a numbered design so you can see how your image looks as a paint-by-number before deciding what to do next. This is the version you review and edit before downloading or ordering anything.
2. Printable canvas PDF
This is a numbered design you can print at home for a DIY project. It's described as print-ready, so the output is meant to go straight to your printer rather than needing further conversion.
3. Color guide
A matched palette that tells you which colors to use for the numbered areas. The guide corresponds to the specific design generated from your photo, not a generic set of colors.
| Included item | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Numbered design preview | See your photo as a paint-by-number before committing |
| Printable canvas PDF | Print at home and paint your own DIY project |
| Color guide | Know which colors match each numbered area |
How to generate it
- Upload your photo. Drag and drop an image, or tap to select one from your camera roll. Supported formats are JPEG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, HEIC, and AVIF, with a maximum file size of 20MB.
- Generate the design. PBNify converts the photo into a paint-by-number design in a few moments.
- Review and edit. You can toggle background removal on or off instantly and choose from multiple crop options. The preview is meant to match the final output — what you see is what you get.
- Download free or order a kit. Download the free print-ready PDF, or order a complete kit if you'd rather have materials shipped.
Is the free design enough on its own?
It depends on what you already have:
- Enough if you have your own printer, canvas or paper, and paints, and you're comfortable matching colors from the guide. The free design is built for exactly this DIY path.
- Not enough if you want the physical materials handled for you. In that case the free design serves as a preview, and the paid kit is the actual product.
What the paid kit adds
If you decide the free design isn't sufficient, the complete custom kit is described as including:
- A 12 × 15-inch printed canvas with your custom design
- Up to 60 paint colors, generated to match your specific design
- Two brushes
- Shipping from PBNify's facility in Columbus, Ohio, with tracking
The key difference is that the kit supplies the exact paint colors generated for your design and the printed canvas, so you're not sourcing or mixing colors yourself.
Practical notes before you start
- File size limit: 20MB maximum. Very large photos may need to be resized first.
- Format support: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, HEIC, and AVIF are all accepted, so phone photos in HEIC work without conversion.
- Designs are saved: PBNify states you get access to all of your custom paint-by-number designs, so you can return to earlier ones rather than regenerating them.
- Editing is limited to what's described: background removal on/off and crop options. There's no indication of manual color or detail adjustment beyond that, so if the generated design doesn't match your expectation, your main lever is the source photo and the crop.
If your goal is a quick DIY project from a photo you already like, the free design covers the whole workflow. If your goal is a finished physical kit, treat the free design as the preview step and the kit as the purchase.
