What Is Included in SUPER ZSNES v0.320 Release Notes?
Updated
SUPER ZSNES v0.320 adds a way to turn off enhancement data, a first pass at RetroAchievements, OBC1 emulation, and several quality-of-life fixes. If you use per-game enhancements, RetroAchievements, or the mobile build, this release changes behavior you should know about before updating.
Enhancement data can now be disabled
The headline change is an option to disable loading of enhancement data, covering both visual and audio enhancements.
This matters because the Super Enhancement Engine applies per-game changes on top of the base emulation — high resolution, texture/normal maps, overclock, widescreen where the game supports it, uncompressed audio replacement, and 3D for perspective-style Mode 7. Previously those were applied as part of the enhancement pipeline. Now you can switch the loading of that data off entirely.
Practical effect: if an enhancement causes a visual or audio mismatch, or you simply want the original presentation, you can disable the data rather than turning off each enhancement individually. Note that the site states enhancement data contains no ROM or copyrighted data, and you still need to supply your own ROMs.
Initial RetroAchievements support
v0.320 includes the first implementation of RetroAchievements. The release notes are explicit that hardcore mode is not included yet — it is planned once the developers verify everything is working correctly.
If you rely on hardcore mode for legitimate achievement tracking, this version will not meet that requirement yet. Treat this as an early implementation to test rather than a finished feature.
OBC1 emulation added
OBC1 emulation is now implemented. This is a chip-level addition, so it affects compatibility for titles that depend on that hardware rather than changing the interface. If a game previously failed or behaved incorrectly due to missing OBC1 support, this release is the one to try.
Interface and input changes
- Mobile button layout moved. Buttons were rearranged on mobile to reduce accidental presses. If you have muscle memory from the previous layout, expect an adjustment period.
- Load state confirmation popup added. It is off by default — you enable it in the options. Once on, loading a state asks for confirmation, which protects against overwriting progress with a stray input.
- Pro Action Replay cheat fix. A fix addresses upper memory RAM addresses for Pro Action Replay cheats. If a cheat code targeting upper memory previously did nothing, retest it here.
What this release does not include
- No hardcore mode for RetroAchievements yet.
- No indication of pricing or account requirements on the page; the release notes themselves are purely about features and fixes.
Should you update?
Update if you want the option to disable enhancement data, need OBC1 compatibility, use Pro Action Replay cheats in upper memory, or play on mobile and want fewer accidental presses. If hardcore RetroAchievements is essential to you, wait for a later release — this version does not provide it.
