EnglishWhat Is Karaoke Version and What Can You Download There?
Updated
Karaoke Version (karaoke-version.com) is a paid download store for instrumental and karaoke tracks, not a streaming service. You search for a song or artist, pick the track type you want, and download an MP3 file. The catalog is described as more than 108,000 playback instrumentals, and the site says its exclusive catalog is constantly expanding. If you want a backing track you can keep, edit, or load into another app, this is the kind of site built for that; if you just want to sing along to a stream, a subscription karaoke app may fit better.
What you can download
The site organizes its catalog into five track types, each with its own price and use case:
| Track type | Price shown | What it gives you |
|---|---|---|
| Custom Backing Track | $2.99 | A remix-style instrumental: change the key, adjust individual instrumental tracks, add or remove lead and backing vocals, then download as MP3 |
| Vocal Backing Track | $1.99 | Keep only the lead and/or backing vocals, or take the instrumental-only version |
| Video Karaoke | $2.99 | Karaoke with video, for singing alone or in a group |
| Custom Karaoke | $9.99 | A customized version of a song |
| Instrumental Versions | $1.99 | Instrumental tracks for mastering a song |
The site also lists instrument categories — guitar, drums, bass, and piano — as part of how tracks can be filtered or customized.
How the catalog is organized
Beyond track type, browsing works by style and artist. The page lists popular styles including Country, Pop, Rock, Soul, Disco, Film & TV Soundtracks, Funk, Synthpop, Soft Rock, Rock & Roll, Alternative, and Love Songs, with a "View all genres" link for the rest. Artist pages include names like Dolly Parton, Journey, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, ABBA, Bruno Mars, and Morgan Wallen, alongside newer artists such as Ella Langley and Olivia Dean.
Each track type has its own popularity lists. For example, the Custom Backing Track section shows "Jolene," "Sweet Caroline," "Don't Stop Believin'," and "Thriller" among its most popular, plus a "new releases" list. The Vocal Backing Track section has a separate popular list, so the same song may appear in more than one format.
How to find and get a track
- Use the search bar ("Search a song, artist...") or the Advanced Search link if you want to narrow by more than a name.
- Open the track and choose the format that matches what you need — custom backing, vocal backing, video karaoke, custom karaoke, or instrumental.
- For a Custom Backing Track, adjust the options described on the page: key, individual instrumental tracks, and lead/backing vocals.
- Add it to the cart and complete checkout. The cart starts empty and shows what you've selected.
- Download the finished file in MP3 format.
Practical things to know before you buy
- It's download-based, not streaming. You get a file, which matters if you want to use it in a DAW, a karaoke player, or offline.
- Prices are per track, and they differ by format — the cheapest listed option is $1.99, the most expensive is $9.99. Buying several tracks adds up, so decide per song rather than assuming a bundle.
- Customization is the main differentiator. The Custom Backing Track is the only format where the page explicitly describes changing key and mixing individual instrument and vocal parts, so if you need a track in a different key, that's the one to pick.
- An account is involved. The page shows Log in, Password Lost, Sign Up, and Help links, so expect to sign in for purchases or downloads.
- Availability is catalog-dependent. The site says its exclusive catalog keeps growing and invites users to help choose the next tracks to produce, which means a given song may not exist yet in the format you want.
If your goal is a specific song in a specific key with control over which instruments and vocals are present, the Custom Backing Track at $2.99 is the closest match. If you only need a plain instrumental or a vocals-only version, the $1.99 formats cover that. For singing along with visuals, Video Karaoke at $2.99 is the relevant option.
