What Is Kebec's Cockers?

Updated

Kebec's Cockers (kebecs.com) is the personal and professional site of Pierre Talbot and Jean Delisle, two Canadian conformation judges and retired American Cocker Spaniel breeders based in Mont-Saint-Grégoire, Québec, Canada. It is not a kennel selling puppies today — the site states plainly that they are no longer breeding and asks visitors not to send puppy or dog requests or referrals. If you are looking for a puppy, this site will not help you; if you want to understand who these judges are, what breeds they judge, or how to contact them, it will.

Who runs the site

The homepage opens with "Bonjour!" and identifies the two operators:

  • Pierre Talbot — conformation judge, CKC and AKC
  • Jean Delisle — conformation judge, CKC, AKC, and FCI

They describe themselves as having bred American Cocker Spaniels since the 1980s, with their kennel permanently registered in 1986. After roughly three decades of breeding, they have retired from breeding and moved into judging.

What they did as breeders

The site does not give a count of champions — the text says they "have never counted." What it does list is the range of titles and awards their dogs have earned:

  • Best In Show and Best In Show Specialty
  • National Specialty Winners
  • American Champion, Canadian Champion
  • FCI-International Champion
  • World Winners
  • Champions in Brazil, Puerto Rico, Belgium, and other European countries

This is presented as background credential rather than as a sales pitch, since no dogs are offered for sale.

What they judge

The site separates the breeds each person is approved to judge, which is the most concrete information on the page.

Jean Delisle Pierre Talbot
Canada (CKC) Groups 1, 4, 5, 6 + BIS; Group 3 working on permit/provisional Groups 1, 2, 3, 7 + BIS; Group 4 on permit/provisional
USA (AKC) Groups 1, 4, 5, 6 (except Finnish Spitz and Norwegian Lundehund) + MISC + BIS Groups 1, 2, 3, 7 + MISC + BIS
FCI Breeds in Groups 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 Some breeds in Groups 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10

Two things are worth noting. First, "BIS" means they are approved to award Best In Show, not just judge individual breeds. Second, the permit/provisional entries indicate approvals still in progress at the time the page was written — so the lists may not reflect their current status.

What else is on the site

Beyond the homepage, the navigation points to About Us, Videos, Photos, Calif, Our Dogs, Vacations, Europe 2013, and Contact. The "Some of our Stars" section highlights dogs from their breeding past. The site also references judging at the 2022 American Spaniel Club, which suggests it is maintained at least occasionally rather than frozen.

How to get in touch

Contact details are listed directly:

  • Location: Mont-Saint-Grégoire, Québec, Canada J0J 1K0
  • Jean Delisle: +1 450 357 0089, [email protected], Facebook – Jean
  • Pierre Talbot: +1 450 357 6710, Facebook – Pierre (email shown as protected on the page)

The page repeats the request: no puppy or dog requests or referrals, since they no longer breed.

When this site is useful to you

  • You are a show exhibitor or club organizer checking judge credentials or breed assignments before an event.
  • You are researching American Cocker Spaniel bloodlines and want to see historical dogs and titles from a long-established kennel.
  • You want to contact Pierre Talbot or Jean Delisle directly about judging.

It is not useful if you want to buy a puppy, get a referral to a breeder, or check current pricing — none of that is offered, and the site explicitly declines those requests.
