What Is Leprd? A Free Web Host for Hobby Projects

Updated

Leprd (leprd.space) is a free web host aimed at hobbyists. It is a fit if you want to put up a personal site, fan page, art or graphics portfolio, blog, or a small non-profit project, and you are willing to follow a short list of rules: be at least 13, keep one active account, get your site online within two weeks of acceptance, and avoid paid ads. It is not a fit if you need a game server, VPN, proxy, file/video hosting, or anything on the prohibited list below.

What Leprd hosts

The site groups acceptable projects under "We love to host":

  • Art websites
  • Blogs
  • Cliques / fanlistings
  • Collectives / networks
  • Fansites / shrines
  • Graphics, design, and code resource websites
  • Non-profit websites
  • Personal websites and portfolios
  • School projects
  • Trading card games

The common thread is small, personal, or community-driven sites rather than infrastructure or heavy applications.

What Leprd does not host

The prohibited list is long and specific. It includes:

Category Examples
Abuse / attacks Booters, stressers, botnets, DoS attacks, port scanners, IP spoofers
Automation Bots / crawlers, traffic exchange
Resource-heavy software CPU-intensive software, cryptocurrency mining, game servers
Anonymity / networking Proxies, VPNs, Tor exit nodes, open DNS resolvers, IRC
Content File/image/video hosting, torrents, illegal adult content, piracy, warez / nulled software, phishing
Other Chatrooms, video chatting software, online pharmacies, spam, doxxing, hacking activity, hate/harassment sites

If your idea depends on any of these, Leprd is not the right host.

Rules you agree to when you sign up

These come from the site's "Keep in mind" section and shape whether Leprd works for you day to day:

  • You must be at least 13 years old to apply.
  • One active account per person.
  • Your website must be online within two weeks after your application is accepted.
  • All communication happens by email, and you are responsible for keeping your contact details current.
  • Keep installed scripts up to date — outdated scripts are a security risk to the server.
  • Backups exist, but you are responsible for your own data and should keep your own copies.
  • Do not use the space as idle storage.
  • Everything you upload must comply with the laws of the Netherlands, the United States, and your country of residence.
  • No unsolicited mass email or spam through the mail service.
  • No paid advertisements (for example, Google AdSense). Donate buttons such as Ko-fi or PayPal are allowed.
  • You may not resell or provide hosting to others on your plan.

When an account can be terminated

The site states an account may be terminated without warning if it hosts prohibited or illegal content, or if all domains in the account have been expired for at least three consecutive months, or have not pointed to Leprd's servers for at least three consecutive months. Terminations are irreversible.

Setup basics

If your project fits, the practical starting points are:

  • Nameservers: ns1.leprd.space and ns2.leprd.space, set at your domain registrar.
  • Timing: apply, get accepted, then publish within two weeks.
  • Contact: watch your email, since that is the only channel used.

How to decide

Choose Leprd if you are building a personal, fan, art, or non-profit site and can live with the no-ads rule and the two-week launch window. Look elsewhere if you need a game server, VPN, proxy, media hosting, or anything involving automation, anonymity, or resource-heavy software — those are explicitly out of scope. If you are unsure whether your project qualifies, the site itself invites you to ask directly before applying.
