What Is MH Wiki?

Updated

MH Wiki (wiki.musichoarders.xyz) is a community-run wiki for media hoarders — people who collect, organize, and preserve large libraries of music and other media. It exists to support the daily conversations and activities of that community, and it gathers practical guidance in one place: an FAQ, a section called "Fun," guides on finding artwork, saving space, scanning media, and ripping CDs (with separate pages for Linux, macOS, and Windows), plus reference material on codes and identifiers, music sources, MusicBee naming, and scans. It also hosts two project documents, the QF Bible and the Salty Bible.

Who it's for

If you maintain a music library at any scale and care about doing it consistently — correct tags, correct identifiers, verified rips, organized artwork — the wiki is written for you. It assumes you already know why you'd want a lossless rip or a clean folder structure; it focuses on how to get there.

What you'll find

Section What it covers
FAQ Common questions from the community
Fun Lighter community content
Essential / MH-Core Core material for getting started
Guides Finding artwork, saving space, scanning media, ripping CDs
Ripping Platform-specific walkthroughs for Linux, macOS, Windows
Reference Codes and identifiers, music sources, MusicBee naming, scans
Projects / Bibles The QF Bible and The Salty Bible

How to use it

Start with the FAQ and the Essential/MH-Core pages if you're new. If you have a specific task in hand — ripping a stack of CDs, tracking down cover art, or trimming a bloated library — go straight to the matching guide and pick the page for your operating system. The Reference section is the place to look when you need to confirm a code, an identifier format, or a naming convention rather than learn a whole workflow.

Practical notes

The wiki is a reference, not a service: it doesn't host media, and the content reflects community practice rather than an official standard. Because it's community-maintained, individual pages can vary in depth, so cross-check anything you plan to apply across an entire library. The site's privacy policy and contact links are in the footer.
