What Is PBNify and What Does It Do?

Updated

PBNify is an online paint-by-number generator that turns a photo you upload into a numbered design with a matching color guide. You can generate and preview the design for free, download a print-ready PDF to paint at home, or order a complete kit with a printed canvas, paints, and brushes. It fits anyone who wants a custom paint-by-number from a personal photo — a portrait, pet, or landscape — rather than a pre-made design.

How the generator works

The process has three steps, and the design is generated in a few moments:

  1. Upload your photo — drag and drop an image, or pick one from your camera roll. Supported formats are JPEG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, HEIC, and AVIF, with a maximum file size of 20MB.
  2. Generate the design — PBNify converts the photo into a paint-by-number design.
  3. Download or order — download a free print-ready PDF, or order a complete kit.

Before you commit to anything, you can see your photo as a paint-by-number in the preview. The site states that what you see in the preview is exactly what you get.

What you get for free

The free design includes three things:

  • Paint by number generated — your photo rendered as a numbered design.
  • Printable canvas PDF — a numbered design you can print at home for a DIY project.
  • Color guide — a matched palette telling you which colors to use.

You also get access to all of your custom paint-by-number designs, so you can return to earlier ones.

What the paid kit includes

If you'd rather not source canvas and paints yourself, you can order a complete custom kit. According to the site, it contains:

Item Detail
Canvas 12 × 15-inch printed canvas with your custom design
Paints Up to 60 paint colors, matched to your design
Brushes Two brushes
Shipping Ships from Columbus, Ohio, with tracking

Editing options before you order

PBNify includes a couple of adjustments you can apply to the generated design:

  • Background removal — toggle it on or off instantly.
  • Crop options — choose from multiple crops.

These matter most when your subject competes with a busy background, or when you want the composition tighter before the design is finalized.

Who it's for

PBNify suits you if you want a custom paint-by-number made from your own photo and you'd like to try the design for free before deciding whether to buy a physical kit. If you only want a printable to paint at home, the free PDF and color guide cover that. If you want the full experience without assembling materials, the kit ships the canvas, paints, and brushes together.

The site positions itself on three points: a detailed generator with up to 60 colors, the editing features above, and kits shipped from the United States.
