What Is Salsa Forums?

Updated

Salsa Forums (salsaforums.com) is a long-running discussion board for salsa dancers and music fans. Its forums cover salsa dancing, salsa music, song identification, member reviews of videos, albums, congresses, clubs and instructors, plus event announcements and website/social media sharing. You can read threads as a guest; posting and some sections require registering an account.

What the forum covers

The board is organized into sections, each with its own purpose:

Section What it's for
Salsa Just Dance General discussion about salsa dancing
Salsa Music Sharing and discussing salsa music; song ID requests go in "Name that Tune"
Name That Tune Help identifying specific salsa songs
Member Reviews Member reviews of videos, albums, congresses, clubs, instructors and more
Salser@s Anonymous Off-topic discussion
Event Announcements and Ads The only place where links to commercial sites are permitted, and they must be salsa-related
Websites and Social Media Links to websites and social media channels, posted by members active on the forum
VideoClips Links to salsa video clips

The activity numbers give a sense of scale: Salsa Just Dance has roughly 6.8K threads and 223.1K messages; Name That Tune has about 9.4K threads and 36.5K messages; Salsa Music has around 3.4K threads and 61.8K messages.

How to use it

  1. Open salsaforums.com. The homepage lists the forums with thread and message counts and the most recent post in each.
  2. Browse without an account. The site shows a "Log in / Register" prompt and a note that JavaScript is disabled in the captured page, so a modern browser with JavaScript enabled gives the intended experience.
  3. To post, reply, or use member features, register and log in.
  4. Before posting a commercial link, check the rule: commercial links are only allowed in Event Announcements and Ads, and must be salsa-related.
  5. For song identification, post in Name That Tune rather than the general music section — the forum explicitly asks for this.

What to expect

The forum is a discussion archive rather than a structured course. Its value is in the accumulated threads and the people answering them: you can search existing discussions, ask a question, or read reviews before choosing a congress, club, or instructor. Note that the captured page shows 680 users online with 0 members and 680 guests, so much of the visible activity is people reading rather than posting.

Practical notes

  • Language: the site is in English (en-US).
  • No pricing information appears in the available page data, so nothing here should be read as confirming the site is free or paid.
  • Some content sits behind a login, and the page notes that an outdated browser may display incorrectly — upgrade if the layout looks broken.
