What is SDDeaf (SDSD)?
Updated
SDDeaf (sddeaf.org) is the online home of SDSD, a South Dakota program that serves deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families. It provides outreach, audiology services, and multidisciplinary evaluations through clinics in Sioux Falls and Rapid City, and it works with school districts across the state. If you are a parent, educator, or provider looking for statewide deaf and hard-of-hearing support in South Dakota, this is the entry point.
Who SDSD serves
The site's 2024–2025 "Reach Across SD" figures give a clear picture of the population:
| Measure | 2024–2025 figure |
|---|---|
| Clients served | 714 |
| Ages 0–5 | 121 |
| Ages 6–21 | 593 (34 graduated) |
| New client referrals | 166 |
| Multidisciplinary evaluations | 19 |
| Student evaluations completed | 20 |
| School districts partnered with SDSD | 15 |
For comparison, the site reports 329 clients served in 2009–2010, so the program's reach has more than doubled over that period.
