What Is South Florida Jubilee Chorus?

Updated

South Florida Jubilee Chorus is an award-winning treble chorus based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that performs a cappella barbershop-style music in four-part harmony. It is part of Region 9 Coastal Harmony, one of 24 regions within Sweet Adelines International. If you enjoy barbershop harmony, are curious about joining a chorus, or want live entertainment for an event, the organization offers a clear path into all three.

What the chorus does

The group's core activity is singing unaccompanied four-part harmony in the barbershop style, performed by treble voices. Beyond regular rehearsals, the chorus competes and performs publicly. Its event listings include:

  • 2025 Coastal Harmony Region 9 Competition
  • 2024 Coastal Harmony Region 9 Competition
  • 2025 Memorial Day
  • Broward Arts Launch — 10:00am, Sun, Oct 4 2026

These appearances show the chorus operates on two tracks: competitive barbershop singing within its region, and community-facing performances.

Visiting a rehearsal

Rehearsals are open to the public and to potential new members, so you can attend before deciding whether to join.

  • When: Every Thursday evening at 7pm
  • Where: Polynesian Gardens Condominium Clubhouse, 400 NW 68th Ave, Plantation, FL 33317

Upcoming rehearsal listings show a 7:15pm start on Thu, Oct 8 2026 and Thu, Oct 15 2026, so it is worth confirming the exact start time before your first visit.

Becoming a member

The site invites visitors to "Learn how YOU can become a member!" The practical first step is simply attending an open rehearsal. Because rehearsals are open to potential new members, you can observe the format, meet current singers, and ask about the audition or joining process in person rather than committing blind.

Hiring the chorus for an event

South Florida Jubilee Chorus can be hired to perform at functions including:

  • Corporate functions
  • Charity events
  • Community entertainment events
  • Birthday parties and Christmas parties
  • Awards nights
  • Weddings, engagements, and anniversaries
  • Funerals and memorial services

If you are planning an event and want a barbershop-style a cappella performance, the chorus's own event page is the starting point for an inquiry.

Who this is for

  • Prospective singers: Anyone interested in treble barbershop harmony can visit a Thursday rehearsal in Plantation without prior commitment.
  • Event planners: The chorus performs at both celebratory and memorial occasions, so it fits a wide range of functions.
  • Audiences: Competition appearances and community events like the Broward Arts Launch give the public chances to hear the group live.

The chorus's affiliation with Sweet Adelines International places it within an established barbershop organization, which matters if you are looking for a group connected to a larger competitive and educational network.
