Spicy Lyrics is a lyrics viewer extension for the desktop Spotify app, distributed through the Spicetify Marketplace. It replaces Spotify's built-in lyrics view with a word-by-word synced, animated page, and it works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Use it if you already run Spicetify on desktop Spotify and want a more visual lyrics experience; it is not a standalone app and does not apply to the mobile or web players.

What it actually changes

The extension swaps out Spotify's default lyrics screen for one built around motion and layout:

Where the lyrics come from

Spicy Lyrics draws on established lyric databases combined with community-made uploads. The site states there are over 37,100 community lyric uploads and that the library keeps growing. That matters in practice: if a track is missing from the standard databases, a community upload may still cover it — and if you sync a song yourself, it can become part of that pool.

Setup in three steps

The site frames setup as taking about as long as one chorus, with no account required:

  1. Install Spicetify on your desktop Spotify app.
  2. Add Spicy Lyrics from the Spicetify Marketplace.
  3. Play a song and watch each word light up.

The prerequisite is the desktop app on Windows, macOS, or Linux. If Spicetify is not installed, step two has nowhere to run — start with the install guide on the site before adding the extension.

Contributor profiles

If you make or upload lyrics, the extension gives you a public profile page. It shows the songs you have contributed lyrics for, live view counts per song, your pronouns and links, and colors you choose — all shareable via a single URL. Signing in is only needed for this; listening and viewing lyrics do not require an account.

Spicy Lyrics was created in Slovakia in 2024 and ranked among the top 10 most popular Spicetify Marketplace extensions of 2025, according to the project's own site. That ranking is a signal of community adoption within the Spicetify ecosystem rather than an independent benchmark.
