What Is Star Local Media and How Do You Access Its North Texas Local News?
Star Local Media (starlocalmedia.com) is a community news website covering North Texas, with reporting focused on Denton, Collin, and Dallas counties. It combines local news, events, and high school sports coverage, and organizes content by individual city or community editions. You can browse featured stories on the homepage or go directly to a specific town's edition, such as Plano Star Courier, Frisco Enterprise, or McKinney Courier-Gazette.
What Star Local Media Covers
The site's stated coverage areas are:
- Denton County
- Collin County
- Dallas County
Its content categories include community news, local events, and high school sports across North Texas. The homepage surfaces this through sections labeled Featured News and Featured Sports, plus a Latest e-Edition entry point for the digital print edition.
How the Site Is Organized by Community
Rather than one single news feed, Star Local Media runs separate community editions. Each has its own subscription page, which tells you the site treats them as distinct local products.
| Community Edition | Subscribe Link |
|---|---|
| Allen American | starlocalmedia.com/allenamerican/subscribe/ |
| Carrollton Leader | starlocalmedia.com/carrolltonleader/subscribe/ |
| Celina Record | starlocalmedia.com/celinarecord/subscribe/ |
| Frisco Enterprise | starlocalmedia.com/friscoenterprise/subscribe/ |
| Lewisville Leader | starlocalmedia.com/lewisvilleleader/subscribe/ |
| McKinney Courier-Gazette | starlocalmedia.com/mckinneycouriergazette/subscribe/ |
| Plano Star Courier | starlocalmedia.com/planocourier/subscribe/ |
| Prosper | starlocalmedia.com/checkout/prosper/ |
If you want news about a specific town, go to that town's edition rather than the general homepage.
How to Access the News
- Start at the homepage (starlocalmedia.com) to see Featured News and Featured Sports, plus the Latest e-Edition.
- Pick your community edition from the list above if you want coverage of one specific city.
- Subscribe through the general link (starlocalmedia.com/subscribe) or a community-specific subscribe page. The site uses "subscribe" as its access signal, so some content may sit behind a subscription — the available pages do not state which articles are free.
- Browse the e-Edition if you prefer the digital print format over web articles.
Is It the Right Source for You?
Choose Star Local Media if you want town-level community news and high school sports in Denton, Collin, or Dallas County, and you know which city you care about. Because coverage is split by edition, the most useful entry point is the edition matching your town. If you need broader regional or national news, this site is built around local community coverage instead.
For job-related listings, the site also runs a separate portal at hiring.starlocaljobs.com with a "Post a Job" purchase page.
