What is the 2nd Orpington Scout Group website?

Updated

The site at 2nd.orp.org.uk is the official page of the 2nd Orpington Scout Group, a Scout group in Bromley Scout District. Its motto is "Second to None", and it describes itself as one of the largest groups in the district, with its own modern headquarters and a large selection of camping and activity equipment. The site is aimed at parents, young people and anyone interested in joining or supporting the group, and it sets out the sections, meeting times and how to get in touch.

What the group offers

The group runs an active programme of weekly meetings, camps and other activities throughout the year. It is made up of four sections, each with its own age range and meeting evenings:

Section Ages Meeting evenings
Beavers 6–8 Tuesday and Wednesday
Cubs 8–10½ Monday and Tuesday
Scouts 10½–14 Wednesday and Friday
Explorers 14–18 Thursday

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts each have two units (two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs and two Scout Troops), while the Explorer Unit meets once a week. In addition, the Quartermasters look after the group's facilities and equipment.

History and identity

The 2nd Orpington have existed since almost the beginning of Scouting, and the site notes that the group is one of the largest in Bromley Scout District. Its group scarf is blue with a red border, which replaced the original plain blue design.

Getting involved

The site invites anyone who wants to be involved to email [email protected]. Each section also has a "More Information" page linked from the main site, so the best route is to start there if you are interested in a particular age group.
