EnglishWhat Is the Athlete Spotlight on the Fredonia State Athletics Website?
Updated
The Athlete Spotlight is a featured section on fredoniabluedevils.com that highlights individual Fredonia State Blue Devils athletes. It sits alongside Top Stories, Scoreboard, and Videos as one of the site's main content areas, and it includes the "Athletes of the Week" recognition. If you want to see which student-athletes are being recognized or learn more about the people behind the teams, this is the section to check.
What the Athlete Spotlight Covers
The site's navigation lists the Athlete Spotlight as a distinct section, and the page evidence shows "Athletes of the Week" appearing within the featured content. In practice, that means the section serves two related purposes:
- Individual recognition — it puts a face and a name to specific Blue Devils athletes rather than covering teams only.
- Weekly honors — "Athletes of the Week" is the recurring recognition format featured on the site.
The section is part of the homepage's featured content, so it is visible to anyone browsing the site, not buried behind a login or a separate portal.
How It Fits With the Rest of the Site
The Fredonia State Athletics site organizes its front page around a few content blocks. Understanding where the Athlete Spotlight sits helps you find it quickly:
| Section | What it provides |
|---|---|
| Top Stories | Main news and headlines about Blue Devils teams |
| Scoreboard | Scores and results |
| Athlete Spotlight | Individual athlete features and Athletes of the Week |
| Videos | Video content |
If your goal is scores or game recaps, the Scoreboard and Top Stories are the better starting points. If your goal is to follow a specific athlete or see who was recognized this week, go to the Athlete Spotlight.
Who It's For
The Athlete Spotlight is most useful if you are:
- A fan, family member, or student who wants to follow individual Blue Devils athletes.
- Looking for the current or recent Athletes of the Week.
- Researching a specific athlete's recognition before a game, a recruiting conversation, or a campus visit.
It is less useful if you only want final scores or schedules — those live in the Scoreboard and related sections.
How to Find It
- Go to fredoniabluedevils.com.
- Look for the Athlete Spotlight heading among the site's main content areas, near Top Stories, Scoreboard, and Videos.
- Open the section to see the featured athletes and the Athletes of the Week listings.
Because the site updates its featured content regularly, the specific athletes shown will change over time — check back if you are looking for a particular week's honorees.
A Practical Note
The Athlete Spotlight is a recognition and feature section, not a statistics database or a roster. If you need full rosters, schedules, or detailed stats, use the team pages instead and treat the Spotlight as the place for individual highlights and weekly honors.
