What Is the Barbershop Harmony Society Website?

Updated

barbershop.org is the official online home of the Barbershop Harmony Society, a community built around barbershop harmony singing. If you are new to the style, the site is a starting point to listen to barbershop music, get sheet music, and connect with a local chapter or quartet. It also serves as a hub for news and major Society events.

What You Can Do on the Site

The homepage groups its main offerings into a few clear paths:

  • Watch & Listen — sample barbershop music before committing to anything.
  • Get Sheet Music — find music if you already sing or want to try.
  • Start singing — a route for newcomers who want to participate.
  • Find a Chapter — locate a local group near you.
  • Find a Quartet — connect with quartets specifically.

The site also frames the experience around attending in person: it invites visitors curious about barbershop to "experience it in person" by checking out a local meeting or performance.

Events and News

The Society promotes a calendar of events, with the homepage highlighting:

Event What the site says
Midwinter 2027 Described as an "exciting Midwinter Contest" with guest appearances
International 2027 Listed as a major upcoming event
St. Louis "Barbershop sizzles in St. Louis" — an "unforgettable week" with "historic new champions"
Quartet Championship "GQ Wins Quartet Championship"
Ambassadors "Ambassadors win at home"

For staying current, the site points to a Blog, Livewire, and The Harmonizer, along with an Inclusion & Diversity section.

Who It Is For

  • Curious newcomers who want to hear barbershop and find a group nearby.
  • Singers looking for sheet music or a chapter to join.
  • Fans following contest results and Society news.

Practical Notes

The site references "subscribe" and "premium" in its materials, but the homepage does not publish prices or detail what a subscription includes. Treat membership or premium access as something to confirm directly on the site rather than assuming it is free.
