What Is the Difference Between IBWISE Online Courses and On-Site Camps in Vienna?

Updated

IBWISE runs two formats of IB revision: online courses you attend from home, and residential camps held on campuses in Vienna. The academic content is delivered by the same pool of educators in both cases — the real difference is structure, immersion and what surrounds the teaching hours. Choose online if you need targeted revision without travel; choose Vienna if you want a full residential programme with pastoral care and activities built in.

Online courses and support

IBWISE's online side covers three distinct offerings:

  • Winter Online IB Revision Intensive — 3-day workshops, available online, running 20 December 2026 to 4 January 2027.
  • Spring Online IB Revision Intensive — 2-day weekend workshops, available online, running 20 March to 18 April 2027.
  • One-to-one support via Zoom — flexible packages and timing available year-round.

Online offerings cover all IB subjects and are taught by the same educators who teach the residential courses. Because these are short, scheduled intensives (or individually booked sessions), you get focused revision without committing to travel or accommodation.

On-site camps and intensives in Vienna

The residential side includes:

  • PRE IB Summer Camp — Vienna, Austria, dates to be announced for 2027.
  • MID IB Summer Camp — Vienna, Austria, dates to be announced for 2027.
  • Spring On-Ground IB Revision Intensive — held on premier campuses in Vienna.
  • In-house IB revision workshops — IBWISE can come to your school, with flexible availability.

The Summer PRE/MID camps and the Spring On-Ground Intensive take place on campuses set in parkland. They include 24/7 pastoral care, ensuite facilities, and breakfast and lunches in the dining hall. The Summer Camp adds recreational activities both on campus (swing dance lessons, ping pong tournaments) and in the city (boating trips on the Danube, tours of Vienna's old city).

Who teaches both formats

All IBWISE educators have a minimum of 12 years of IBDP classroom teaching experience, with the range across the team given as 12–30 years. Around 90% are also recognised as IB examiners, and many serve as IB teacher trainers in their subject areas. This is the same faculty for online and residential courses, so the teaching quality is not the variable you are choosing between.

How to decide

  • Pick online if you want short, high-intensity revision (a 3-day winter block or a 2-day spring weekend), need a specific subject covered without travel, or want ongoing one-to-one support spread across the year.
  • Pick Vienna if you want the academic work wrapped in a residential experience — accommodation, meals, 24/7 pastoral care and a social programme with students from around the world.
  • Pick in-house workshops if you are arranging revision for a whole school group and want IBWISE to deliver on your own site.

Both routes share the same small-class model (usually 5–8 students) and the same emphasis on personal well-being alongside curriculum mastery. If you are unsure which fits, IBWISE offers a Zoom call with their team to discuss your needs.
