What is The Green Coffee Bean Company?

Updated

The Green Coffee Bean Company (tgcbc.com) is an Alaska-owned coffee roasting company based in Ketchikan that specializes in gourmet coffees and teas from around the world. You can visit its cafe in Ketchikan or order online for shipping. The site also sells tea through a related brand, The Green Tea Leaf Company.

What the site offers

The homepage is organized around four main paths:

  • Cafe — a physical coffee shop in Ketchikan where you can get a cup of coffee (the site also mentions fresh cookies and hot coffee).
  • Buy Coffee — coffees sourced from around the world, shipped to your door.
  • Buy Tea — teas from around the world, presented under The Green Tea Leaf Company.
  • Gift Card — a $25 gift card, valid for in-store purchases only (not online), available by visiting the cafe or emailing [email protected]. It can be mailed to you or picked up in person.

Featured and popular blends

The site highlights a set of house blends and featured coffees:

Category Items
Most popular blends Killer Whale Coffee, Snappy Rockfish
Featured coffees Cape Chacon Coffee, Big Buck, Colombia – Excelso, Sumatra – Takengon

The names reflect the company's Southeast Alaska location — Killer Whale, Cape Chacon, and Big Buck are local references rather than standard roast descriptors, so treat them as branded blends rather than origin labels. The two origin coffees listed (Colombia Excelso and Sumatra Takengon) are named by growing region.

How to buy

  • In person: Visit the cafe in Ketchikan.
  • Online: Order coffee or tea through the site and have it shipped.
  • Gift cards: Email [email protected] or stop by the cafe; note the in-store-only restriction.

The site also offers an email newsletter signup (email address and name required) if you want updates.

What the page does not say

The homepage does not list prices, shipping rates, shipping regions, or whether an account is required to order. It also does not state cafe hours or a street address. If any of those matter to your decision, you would need to check the individual Buy Coffee, Buy Tea, or Cafe pages, or contact the company directly at [email protected].
