What is The PTA Council of Howard County (PTACHC)?

Updated

PTACHC (ptachc.org) is the county-level PTA council that serves Howard County's 74 local PTA/PTSA units and their members. It supports the mission, purposes, and principles of PTA through advocacy, leadership development, parent involvement, and education. If you are a local PTA/PTSA officer, delegate, or member in Howard County, this site is your source for required forms, meeting materials, financial and governance guides, and program information.

Who PTACHC serves

  • Local PTA/PTSA units in Howard County — 74 of them, per the site's own description.
  • PTA officers and delegates — the people who need to file officer lists, attend general meetings, and follow bylaws and financial rules.
  • Members and families — through programs like Reflections (art), scholarships, and advocacy updates.

Key dates and requirements for 2026–2027

  • Officer Contact Form: Fill it out for your PT(S)A for the 2026–2027 school year — even if officers haven't changed from 2025–2026. PTACHC uses this to send notices about meetings, events, and training. Submit as soon as possible.
  • Free State PTA officer list: Submit your PTA/PTSA's officer list to Free State PTA via Givebacks.
  • General Meetings: Held the first Tuesday of each month at the Homewood Center. Materials from previous meetings are posted on the site.
  • Dues: PTA Council dues are $200.00, due by November 1, 2026, payable to PTA Council of Howard County or PTACHC. All checks must have two signatures. Download the Dues & Scholarship Invoice 2026-27 and mail it with your dues. An optional scholarship donation of any amount is also requested.

How to use the site

  1. New or returning officers: Start with the 2026–2027 Officer Contact Form, then check the Presidents/VP's Guide, Secretary's Guide, and Treasurer's Guides.
  2. Delegates: Review "What does a PTA Delegate do?" and the Delegates section before attending general meetings.
  3. Financial questions: Go to PTA Financials for rules on incorporation, reserve funds, fundraising, sales tax, and record retention.
  4. Programs: Visit Reflections, Scholarship Program, and After Prom pages for participation details.
  5. Meeting documents: Use the PTA General Meeting Materials link to access documents from previous meetings.

Practical notes

  • There is a private Facebook page for local PTA officers only.
  • PTACHC describes its role as serving units through advocacy, leadership development, parent involvement, and education — so expect governance and compliance content rather than general parenting resources.
  • The site does not publish pricing for membership at the local level; dues referenced here are the council-level dues owed by units.
